  1. If we’re putting asterisks, it’d have to have one either way. Have there been any other 5x Top 8 finishers yet besides Myles Amine? Or anyone else going for it this year besides Fix? I know Mekhi is wrestling in his fifth tournament but didn’t AA the year he was injured.
  2. Why not? I don’t see why he wouldn’t wrestle if the dual is on the line
  3. https://cyclones.com/news/2024/1/10/iowa-state-wrestling-team-helps-find-lost-child.aspx
  4. yes heard Pyles say on FRL that that wasn’t true
  5. I agree with your first paragraph, although that's probably a different topic... Yes, it can be arbitrary, but I feel like before this year it was almost always on the bottom guy. This year it seems to be more evenly split, but no hard data behind that obviously, and to your point I have seen a few instances where for example the situation doesn't change but they will hit the bottom guy first and then the top guy like 20 seconds later. But at least in that scenario if they both get hit then it might help prevent your first scenario...
  6. Zero chance RBY escapes this match with zero stall calls on top with the new rule. As it should be.
  7. I went Crookham in part because it seems like at least one of Vito and/or Fix may be going down. But outside of that I think it's a tough call between him and Shapiro since 157 seems to be more up for grabs.
  8. the match has now been posted on one of those soon-to-be-banned youtube channels
  9. Is this true? Brands does seem to actually care about duals. I can't imagine Kueter vs. Hill is all that close, so I'd assume they will send Kueter if he's their best guy.
  10. I keep thinking about Cael’s suggestion of getting rid of stalling entirely. It would get rid of the subjectivity, but he seemed to imply that it would be “fun” and I don’t think that’s the case. I’ve seen guys blatantly stall when they have stall calls to give and it is usually not exciting.
  11. This original post was from last year, before they changed the rule to now say top man needs to work for a turn. Can probably thank Coach Ward for helping raise awareness about this. But yes, anecdotally I would say that I have seen more top stalling calls this year than in the past.
  12. I didn’t think Mauller wrestled particularly defensive TBH. Cardenas was just shooting a lot, especially when he got down a bunch
  13. Interesting interview, although nothing really new that I noticed. One thing I found interesting was I’m not sure I’ve seen it confirmed that DeSanto was kicked off the team at Drexel, but Spencer does say that here. Says he might be his best friend. Contract with HWC is through 2028. Said he liked coaching at the Soldier Salute but wouldn’t commit to coaching when he’s done wrestling. No Ferrari questions
  14. Not that it means anything, but did Hutmacher have any notable wins in HS? Looking at his 2017 Fargo Cadet bracket, not seeing any names I recognize although he did tech his way through and didn’t allow a point until the finals. On a side note, the cadet finals that year look to have had a pretty good success rate of guys doing well in D1, not sure how that compares to other years.
  15. Missed how Ming got 1. I thought they started neutral so may have been a stalling point. He avoids the major to keep Mizzou under 40, Elam wins 8-1 and Mizzou wins 39-0. That was a bloodbath.
  16. Elam starts 2nd on bottom. Reversal, 7-0 end of 2 after a stall call on each guy. Lots of RT for Elam.
  17. TD Elam, 10-0. Lets him go, 10-1. 11-1 final with RT. 36-0 Mizzou.
  18. Elam starts second on bottom and gets ridden for a bit then escapes, 4-0. TD Elam, 7-0 end of 2.
  19. Elam with the TD on Stemmet and rides for a bit, 3-0 end of 1.
  20. Whiting starts third on bottom, reversal. 11-2. Woj escape, 11-3. Whiting TD, 14-3. Woj escape, 14-4. Whiting TD, 17-4. Woj escape, 17-5 final. 32-0 Mizzou.
  21. Woj starts second on bottom, escapes. 6-2. Another TD Whiting, 9-2 end of 2.
  22. Whiting vs someone who's name starts with W and has a lot of letters. TD Whiting, escape Woj. 3-1 Whiting. Another TD, 6-1 end of 1.
  23. Third period starts neutral. Another TD Mocco, 10-4. Lets him go, 10-5. Mocco TD 13-5. Lets him go again, 13-6. Another Mocco TD, 16-6. Stalling on Monteiro as he's trying to let him up, 17-6. Monteiro escape, 17-7. TD Mocco, 20-7, Monteiro escape. 21-8 final with RT.
