  1. How does seeding go at trials ... at least at this point? 1. Lee 2. Alirez 3. Yianni? 4. Bartlett? 5. McKenna 6. Larkin 7. Valencia 8. Gross 9. DeSanto 10. Kolozdik Not sure where Meyer Shapiro and James Green fit in here or even Ladarion Lockett (each whom is qualified, along with Nashon Garrett). Shapiro seems too big for 65KG and Garrett too small. This is just a rough conjecture beyond #1 and #2. I'm assuming Retherford will go 74KG but that still seems to be an unknown. If he goes 65KG, he gets seeded automatically to the semis.
  2. Yes, it's not the Olympic Trials or the Olympics where one might be more inclined to take the risks associated with wrestling. Let Lee go forward and try to qualify the spot. Live for another day.
  3. My initial thought when Nick Lee scored the first points in the match was that he is clearly in Yianni's head. I now see that passing thought was both oddly prescient and now un-funny. (Yianni does, however, use his head a great deal in matches; for example, to post on it as defense or in a scramble.)
  4. Aside: for those of you haven't seen it, I recommend the "Vito" film on FLO. Yianni has a big role in it, too.
  5. Yianni was clearly dazed and confused. I kind of doubt he will be back out there for a second match
  6. ah ... yes. 7. Yianni did not look right after that head bang. Why is FLO only showing the one match? Really strange. There are actually fans of women's wrestling out there, and don't they (FLO) want to help build and support this base?
  8. 20-3 Michigan lead. Unless Iowa pins in every remaining match, they will lose the dual.
  9. 10 minutes of our lives stolen. But, hey, it's Groundhog Day, aka Will Lewan Day, where his matches repeat themselves endlessly.
  10. Oh, to be a fly on the wall in Iowa's locker room at the break .... What are T and T saying?
  11. Will Lewan's doppelganger is Jason Tsirtsis.
  12. Why would Messenbrink choose down in the third? He could have scored many points on his feet
  13. As I see it, there are two kinds of people in the world: those who divide people into two kinds of people, and those who don't.
  14. To Jon Kozak (who seems to be in the know): Is the scheduled wrestle off between Yianni and Nick Lee still happening this weekend? I see Yianni's name listed for the Pan Am qualifiers. Is that just pro forma or has Lee withdrawn? Thanks.
  15. Is it possible that Nick Lee withdrew ... or is this wrestle off at 65KG still on?
  16. That's possible. He might have seen it as akin to "running up the score" against a weak or defeated opponent in other sports and a form of humiliation. Starocci is, however, in the top 2 for the Hodge and one, of course, needs pins in a close race.
  17. Flo's rankings from Jan. 10. 18. One guess (just speculation): he was still angry at how long the Beau Bartlett TD was allowed to play out in the first period. He seemed to be livid earlier in the match about that. The tie up lasted a very long time and the ref did not call a stalemate. But that, of course, wasn't Cunningham's fault. Who knows? Any lip readers out there?
  19. Sounds like Mauller was mauled. maul verb verb: maul; 3rd person present: mauls; past tense: mauled; past participle: mauled; gerund or present participle: mauling (of an animal) wound (a person or animal) by scratching and tearing. "the herdsmen were mauled by lions" treat (someone or something) roughly. "the body was badly mauled in battle" INFORMAL defeat heavily in a game or match.
  20. Ah, a play on Voltaire's remark: “S'il n'existait pas Dieu il faudrait l'inventer." (If God did not exist he would have to be invented.)”
  21. I wondered that myself. Wasn't it 19-5? Or was there a stalling point added at the end?
  22. Penn State hasn't given up a TD in 17 straight (individual) matches.
  23. Over the PSU boards, they are saying no Gomez, no Kasak and no Starroci
  24. Someone should pay you for all your great work ... or, minimally, give you a free ticket to NCAAs each year.
