The rule changed this year (as someone else educated me on) and they had to be in the portal by the same cut-off date as everyone else. However, it only takes someone to sue to change it. If we know anything about the NCAA, in less than a year it should be total anarchy with anyone being able to play any sport, any time, any where, as long as they shall live. https://www.on3.com/news/new-ncaa-transfer-portal-legislation-brings-updated-rules-for-grad-transfers/

He's still at ASU... After weighing in at 143 a few weeks ago, I think Larkin's ideal weight might be 149. It still fills out the lineup if he goes 149 - Teemer 157 - McLane 165 - Ruiz 174 - Valencia 184. The danger for ASU is losing Manville to Ok State.

SInce @Thumper @NearFall @bronco is a coward and blocks me along with a lot of people who disagree with him, I will go ahead and tell you the truth.... Belton is in the portal, but not sure if he will continue wrestling, stay at OSU or actually transfer. I know exacly what happened, since I was mat side. At the 2023 Pac-12 championship you might remember that ASU put Yas in at the last minute to wrestle. In the championship, Belton pinned him in OT. Belton stood over him at the end. Probably not the best move. They got into it there and had to be separated. This year, Vaquez returned the favor with some choice words -they got into it and had to be separated. Rivalry....tempers.... competitors.... no backing down...that's what it was. It was a two year confrontation in the making that I am sure Vasquez had circled on his calendar. Not handled the best by either wrestler.... disgraceful? No. As a side note, OSU is not SOL at 141. Singleton was bumped up all year from being the #2 guy at 141. He got some ranked wins and was ranked in the top 30 most of the season. OSU will be fine at 141.

So basically a series of free vacations to places their kid will never go to. First we will head down to Miami for a nice weekend on the beach and tell the coaches we definitely had a great visit and they are in our top 25 schools we are looking at. Next up we will head to NY.....

Now you are saying the same thing.....

David Taylor’s new Instagram (an other Social media) handle

You sure about that? This kinda sounds like it's talking about their own athletes.... "Upon submission of the Notification of Transfer Form (or email to the compliance staff for non-student-athletes), the compliance office at Cornell is required to submit the student-athlete’s information into the NCAA Transfer Portal or send out permission to contact within two business days."

Maybe this goes into one of the 68 threads on DT rather than the portal thread.

Wow.... that was out of the blue (pun intended).

What's stopping ND from bringing back wrestling?

What's stopping ND from bringing back wrestling?
Idaho replied to ZipsWrestling24's topic in College Wrestling
Boise State President and AD wanted baseball.... dropped wrestling, added baseball and never competed in even one season of baseball. The president retired, then very soon after became a board member and editorial staff at the local newspaper, which is owns a lot of papers in Idaho. Guess what you never saw in the news after that? WHen the program was dropped, they send an assistant to the wrestling room with recruits on campus to give the news to Mendoza that the program was cut. This was shortly after they brought in a new staff as well. The AD and president refused to have any meeting with the wrestling staff even after they proposed to self fund after two years. -
According to a lot of posters, everyone is going to Ok State to wrestle for David Taylor. Now that Wyatt, Gable and Kerk transferring over, it's going to be a great and deep team. Too bad it's not NAIA.
-
Apparently he has a year left and will be making an annoucnement. Who knew you could get an OLY shirt after the fact. On the MMA hour, his manager says “looking forward to returning to elite level competition” and “looks forward to sharing big news very soon”… “has one year of college eligibility”

someone used to call out pop on no alcohol
Idaho replied to Scouts Honor's topic in College Wrestling
I don't recall you specifically, but there were definitely people who thought his policy on no alcohol was overboard , outdated, wouldn't work at OSU, they are adults and so on. It will be interesting to see what the reaction will be if DT in fact puts some strict policies in place and uses the summer to straighten things out. Will it the policies be OK now because it's DT? -

Lots of people have... there have been many posts and arguments about this topic and about his coaching style - especially in the context of who would replace Smith. You must have been on sabbatical. -
With how weak the NCAA is now, I bet he could wrestle the 1st and 2nd period in one singlet, transfer at the whistle, put the other singlet on, and defeat himself.

Coleman Scott to some HS if named Head Coach
Idaho replied to feet2back's topic in College Wrestling
Everything I have been reading is that no coaches will remain - DT bringing in a totally new staff, which will most likely include kennedy and Gilman. Some team will end up with a great pick-up in Scott.... you could see the improvement he made at OSUe this season. -
After news broke that Schultz went into the portal he tweeted "sell outs." He left it there for a while. Then he deleted it and clarified with "I wasn't talking about my teammates." It just shows that Richie is very concerned about other guys leaving their teams to the portal.

I am sure that Carter will always be PSU loyal, never move out of PA, never coach a kid or program that is not PSU. His coach left ISU to go to PSU...without that, there is no PSU Dynasty Instead of appreciating all of DT's contributions to PSU, a guy who probably had a big part in making him who he is, he takes a big dump on him. Nobody can leave PA without Carter's approval, even it if betters your family and life goals. GET HIM JB!

Good point... Taylor, Smith and whoever comes in would be much more enticing than Iowa. If they brought Taylor in for big bucks, I imagine they are ready to spend on the portal as well.
-
nope... they will be on a national championship team and from what I heard, Cael is still doing a pretty good job.
-
Does Jimmy rent the basement from DT? If so, then he is definitely going.
-
Imagine if David Taylor had taken the Ok State job a month ago... the portal would be interesting.

I only said if Gable is back in the room... I don't think he has another year, but I can see him training for MFS there, which means he will be around to train with.
-
Agree.... I have to think that it's 1. Michigan 2. Minny 3. Ok State. You can't beat the training partners at Michigan - guys that are actually competing on World teams. The Minny factor could be Gable coming back to the room...but other than Gable some of those heavies are starting to get up there in terms of going hard with a college kid.
