  1. The NCAA only cares about football and basketball....and they have had one token investigation into using NIL as a recruiting tool to show. They don't care about tampering. You are supposed to be in the portal before a team can even talk to you. Hamiti was in the portal with a Do Not Contact...hmmmm...wonder how that happened? Two years ago Iowa was using 3rd parties to contact - nothing you can do about it. I am sure that guys were being talked to during the season and at the NCAA. Guys are getting poached left and right...nobody will be saving the day - The teams with the big money like Michigan, Iowa, Penn State, etc. will continue to do it. Penn State could win without it....but the others need to do it to stay in the trophy hunt. Guys like Bailey and Little from LR are going to be offered some good $$ to leave because they have 3 years of eligibility left. It will be hard for them to turn down. This has been and will be the discussion every year. Who is getting poached.
  2. Did he get hurt this year? He didn't look real great this season. I don't think he was a MAC champion. I am not sure he can beat out Alvarez, but if Rider brings him in I am sure it would be for them to not be in the same weight.
  3. Still a returning former all American. The ship doesn’t sail if you are an AA - you just are.
  4. "I had an undefeated season in D1 wrestling." Despite only 6-0, he has had a really good season developing. Yes...it will be interesting to see how he does..
  5. Figs was a pre-season top 4 ranked wrestler in every major outlet. Figs dealt with injuries, out of shape, etc. Figs got healthy and hot at the right time. He was masterful at getting a takedown, then backing up the rest of the way even if it was in the second round, then using his opponents pushing on him to try to get another stall to score again with his outside single. He had never wrestled the guys he wrestled at the NCAA...that can be an advantage as some of those guys had wrestled each other multiple times. As a side note on Renteria..... The match with Figs was not just that Figs wrestled bad...but Renteria looked very good and went on the offensive from the get go....say what you will about his record last year, but Figs' loss to him won't look as bad next season. He has improved a ton this year.
  6. That would be my #1 pick as well.
  7. Former NQ Jason Kraisser in the portal
  8. Alvarez In the portal again
  9. Parco is not going 141....McClane has one more left.... ASU might have the most 6th-7th year wrestlers in their lineup next year
  10. "What does it look like between now and the trials?" "A lot of running." Haha...good line Fix.
  11. Michigan.... joined by 3-4 other mystery transfers.
  12. True.... lowers his loss rate by year.
  13. Your whole premise was questioning whether they would have been AA had they been in the Big 12 tournament two weeks ago... now. you are changing to "Tell me Figs doesn't get better challenges at the Big 12 at 125" - that actually is funny stuff when you move the goal posts. As a side note he would have won the Big 12 as well and the only thing that changes there is his seed. They were AA and they would have been if they had been at the Big 12 tourney as well. You can "what if" injuries all you want for anyone you want. Nobody is questioning the Big 12 being a tougher tourney.....but questioning whether they would have been AA if they had wrestled in that tournament two weeks prior rather than than the Pac 12 is yes....funny.
  14. I'm not a John Smith fan by any means... two coaches I really dislike and he is one of them. I agree with the comments about him and the program.....But for Fix himself, the guy lost 6 matches in 4 years... Suriano in OT... RBY in OT....RBY by 1.... Vito my Major... McGee by 1.... Vito by 2 The only "bad loss" he took was maybe McGee. He lost to a world champ by major last year - a guy who steamrolled everyone. He came back past his prime and ended up in the match until the last minute. What did people expect to happen there? If he had beat Vito it would have been because Vito was hurt and then it doesn't count. Was Fix picked to win over Vito? No. I'm not convinced based on this season that he got worse, when the only loss he took was a world champ that he wrestled tougher against this year than last. Is this where the vito was hurt and Fix stalled comes in?
  15. Do you really think Figs, Parco, Teemer and Schultz would not have been an AA if they had wrestled in the Big 12 tournament two weeks before? haha...that's hilarious ... and I am not an ASU fan for sure.
  16. Lots of reasons he should win it... just not as many as someone else. I know you guys have been spoiled since you started following in 2011, but it's okay for someone else to be deserving sometimes. You are going to be okay.
  17. Dana White - JB and Sparks.
  18. Don't be a victim..... All I said was he has lots of other stuff going on and nobody knows if he wants to do that. Hardly flexing.
  19. Not a big Fix fan...but this is a good post match interview.
  20. Farm animals...K2Roots....smoothies...training center... having a family.... life. Rumors are part wishful thinking by those benefiting from the rumors. The other half has to be true that DT wants to do that. Maybe....but maybe he doesn't want the hassle of being a college coach. Between this business ventures, sponsorships and winnings, I am guessing he is doing fine.
  21. You are correct . They get a two year period, however if I remember correctly, they can only automatically get a champ at each weight and then have to get at-large after that. However, the merger for football could actually mean the addition of the two MW teams for wrestling as well - AirForce and Wyoming. There are "whisperings" of other teams being added as well. Let's just say that the Big 12 isn't exactly making everyone happy. As a side note, despite you wanting to get rid of Cal Bakersfield, they still have a team.
