  1. Man your good... with all the activity that's about to happen, will you update at 3:00 pm today? That would be MT time.
  2. What if conferences were aligned by NIL? 1. Top 5 $$$ teams are in their own conference called "NIL Conference" - everyone else is in the "Other Conference" 2. NIL Conference sends their winner only to the NCAA since they only have 5 and need 6 to be a legit conference. 3. The Other Conference uses the same process we have now to fill out the other 32 spots. 4. Transfer portal stays within it's own conference.... in other words, wrestlers can't switch conferences. 5. All duals and tournaments are separate....NIL Conference can wrestle each other 3x each in duals (12 duals) to have a series winner. They can have 3 tournaments where they all wrestle each other again. Other Confernce has whatever tournaments they want with whatever teams they want within the Other Conference participants. 6. At the NCAA tournament, the top "Other Conference" team has the option to move to the NIL Conference the next season. However the NIL Conference still only gets the champ.
  3. PAC 12: 1. Can wrestle with 4 teams as a conference for two years - but they only get the champion as an AQ and the rest fall into at large bids. So technically the conference is not done. 2. With the temporary merger with the MW for football, it is possible that AirForce and Wyoming move to the Pac 12 conference for wrestling. There are rumblings that some Big 12 teams are not happy with the conference. 3. The teams could all join the Big 12 for wrestling creating a logical East and West division (as noted by someone else). 4. Will Little Rock stay or join a conference closer to home? That's a good question. 5. As mentioned before, there are rumblings of teams not being happy in the Big 12. Is it possible there is an exodus of a couple of teams? IMO (as well as a majority of people) there are teams that should leave and connect to the Pac 12 as a Western conference - such as UNC, Utah Valley, Wyoming, Air Force, Cal Baptist.
  4. Looks like he was a good football player as well...Must be Irish.
  5. When I put soap opera music behind this and listen to it in a Morgan Freeman voice, it all makes sense.
  6. As part of his major do you know if Foca participated in "Dragon Day" yesterday?
  7. That's pretty close I think, but definitely a few question marks. Excited about Renteria entering the lineup as well as how Attao will transition. Yeah, 157 will be a battle between a few guys. I would probably put Noah Tolentino in there at 149 with Singleton. He was the starter this year and was injured in one of the first duals. Singleton was the 2nd 141 who bumped up and won that spot. Was really happy with how Rademacher performed as a true freshman. Went from getting hammered by Stemmet to beating him twice at the end. As with any team, the off-season work will be crucial. I am also interested to see what happens with the portal. Last year OSUW brought in McDermott and Wittlake.
  8. Nice work! You are keeping us updated several times a day....correct?
  9. Yep... and to add I don't believe those rules apply to grad transfers.
  10. By adapt you really mean the lower level teams have to adapt to losing the guys they recruited and developed, correct? You are correct that a few teams have dominated the sport over the years, but it's not the same as the Mcllravy days - not even close.
  11. If Michigan continues to buy a decent amount of guys each year, could it hurt HS recruiting?
  12. You won't see the Lamer brother's switched... if you are up close you will see why. A two weight bump for Saldate is a BIG jump. I am pretty such Daschle is settled in at 174... I could see it in a couple years, but right now he is not strong enough to bump up I don't see Hercules starting at 141...they need a transfer there. THey could also benefit from a Lujan transfer at 125 and give Mendez another year to develop.
  13. There is usually a report that comes out each year of the smallest, largest and average dual meet attendance for each team. @Jason Bryant do you do this or is it someone else I am thinking of?
  14. If he were in consolation this would be true.
  15. This is the most common way that kids get their extra year in so that they don't lose HS eligibility... stay in 8th grade twice. Go to a charter in 8th grade, then move to public and stay in 8th grade (or vice versa) and claim "they need an extra year academically." You can also stay in 8th grade then "homeschool" for a year before entering high school. Lots of ways to stay back in middle school an extra year. It's been going on a long time. And no...19 is not the normal age to graduate.
  16. Going somewhere as a team might be a little tough. I think you are right that coming back closer to home might be the goal. ASU already has Figs at 125 and Chlebove at 133...Teemer has another year at 157 plus they will already have a log jam with Manville coming in and Larkin there. They also have Ruiz at 165. Cal Poly is another option - Lujan would fit nicely there, but they have Legend Lamer at 157 and WIck coming back at 165 next year.
  17. Yep - they didn't want it because now they can't use NIL free of charge...it costs them money....and it's an absolute nightmare to manage. It still does not change the fact they are the group that manages the system that NIL is operating within .... If there is no recruiting/tampering if a kid is not in the portal, it should be enforced - but it's not. It's their job to create a system that works for everyone involved, but right now it's the wild wild west.
  18. And have wins over the top echelon of wrestlers....which would probably change every time you wrestle that bracket.
  19. I agree with this sentiment and I don't blame you for typing out the other 75 or so schools on the list.
  20. As a side note, a local HS has built a relationship with MIzzou and has brought them out for a camp the last 3 summers I think. They do all kinds of fun stuff with the team when they host them. Smith has done a good job out there with that program...I actually wish we would see them bring it all together at the end more often.
  21. Agree....and it has more substantial effects on smaller programs with a smaller donor base. There is excitement in success and I have seen donations rise and fall based on that. Lose your star/s and it's like going back to rebuild again.
  22. Well that's the problem - they can't. Let's be honest and call it what it is... easy grad programs that anyone can get into for an extra year of eligibility with no intention of staying a second year to finish.
  23. If we are talking about the whole sport of NCAA wrestling being financially independent that would require revenue sharing and that's not happening. No way is PSU , MIchigan and Iowa going to share with Cal Bakersfield to keep the sport as whole financially independent. It comes down to teams being financially independent or dying on the vine...and that's what has and will happen. Back to square one.
