He clearly took his foot off the gas in the second period, which was the right call given how quick that guy was and countering him. Don't give up counters, make him attack, give up points you have to spare, etc.
Wasn't pretty but god the job done.
If Brooks somehow can't wrestle, I would expect that DT will be our rep. John Smith won a gold medal while being a coach, the Olympics are in early August which won't affect the upcoming season too much.
That doesn't make sense though, if an AD can't make legally a promise why would they? They would be risking their own job doing so. And if Smith made the promise, well that isn't his call as we see now.
I don't believe this to be true, yet admittedly am guessing. I think it's more likely is that John said he'd vouch for him and being there a year would give him a big leg up. It's hard to believe the AD promised him a head coaching job a year from now and it wasn't Smith's to promise.
I'm not even sure legally the AD could promise Scott a future HC job with all the red tape involved in public university hiring...
I too feel for Scott, but it seems more likely he took a calculated gamble and lost.
Larkin was so much taller/skinnier than his opponents at OTTs, hard to believe he can make 141 consistently. It's only the eye test admittedly, but I'd expect him at 149.
People dislike him so much that they are finding reasons to nitpick his style and potential. He's a hell of a wrestler, not a lot of true freshmanat the highest weights win national titles.
