Everyone can compete. My point was that a competitor is not back to fully optimal for about 22 months. Yianni and Spencer Lee are elite freaks and even they need to rehab.

One ACL takes almost two years to get back to where you were before. Two ACLs simultaneously is darn near unchartered waters for high-level athletes. That makes the US Open a trap game for Lee no matter the outcome at this point.

Spencer Lee has had the same goatee since 7th grade. No way he can grow a mountain man beard like Dennis.

Patrick Glory is going to be sent to the shadow realm if he runs into Lee. That match will be a statement, exclamation point, and a permanent period on that “what-if” scenario. Suriano has killer defense and strong cardio but I don’t know that he will outlast Lee at scratch 57. It was Steveson’s eligibility clock. Someone brought up that he could come back to NCAA and the only way he could do that is by applying a redshirt to last year. Not a compliance officer but I believe that means he would need to be enrolled at least part-time one semester last year. *I am not a compliance officer*

To add, look at Burwick's situation from an outside perspective. Didn't know his coach was recruiting over him, didn't enter the portal in time, lost a good chunk of the season (could have been all). It's a two-way street and therefore the student-athletes, if they prefer to choose wrestling over the name of their degree, should be as empowered as their coaches who may recruit over them, leave them, or be terminated prior to graduation.

This is a pretty logical outcome of NIL and the transfer portal. Student-athletes will enter the portal almost by default on an annual basis and that population will grow significantly, if for no other reason than to test the waters of free agency NIL. Doesn't mean every wrestler will enter the portal and even fewer will actually transfer. But pandora's box was opened and there appears to be no closing it.
