  1. Nolf is going to remind everyone why Cenzo had to go 165. And no I’m not a bitter Imar fan watching 74 dreaming about what could have been this weekend why do you ask.
  2. And great chest wrap defense for 5-0 and wins 5-4. Legit freestyle chops. I’m impressed. Maybe we get a *kimura tomorrow night - those are legal in freestyle if executed correctly.
  3. DeSanto in the running for Most Improved this year. Up 3-0 over Gross with 2:00 left in the 2nd
  4. No trials at 57 and he is not qualified for 61 WTT. His freestyle season is over as fast as it started.
  5. When I saw A. Assad 57kg I'm not going to lie... the first thought that popped in my head was "well I'll be damned. Iowa is so crazy that they actually convinced one of their guys to cut his legs off to be the favorite at a lower weight." The second thought was "jesus are they really doing that Spencer? Didn't they learn from Lee/Gilman and Ramos/Dennis?" The third thought was "what was in my coffee this morning?"
  6. When the bout board showed 79KG: C Marsteller vs J Green my heart fluttered for a moment
  7. Does the US Open have a version of the Gorarrian? Because I feel like Hendrickson would win that as well.
  8. Huh? Whether you want quantity (multiple go out to R64) or quality (multiple contain former national team members, NCAA champs, and Hodge winners) you can check either box. There are only 14 16 people I think are missing - 10 sitting in Final X already, Fix who almost went, Jordan Oliver who's retired, Tony Nelson, and Kerkvliet. *ETA: James Green who is retired and Deakin who is in parts unknown. Who else is missing to provide "depth" because it feels like *everyone* is here.
  9. Fix tweeted earlier this morning his body wasn't feeling it
  10. Haven't been drawn up yet. They just finished weigh-ins
  11. The better view would be of the Steve Sanderson coaching tree. Some of the greatest hits off the top of my head would be his sons Cael and Cody are doing pretty good in the coaching realm in their respective positions. Cole and Cyler coach the family wrestling academy in Utah. Steve also trained David Taylor from a young age then rejoined Cael at PSU and heads a very strong kids academy. Varner isn't quite an apples to apples since he trained with Cael before transitioning to coaching, but I think if he ever chooses to move to a new RTC that he will have great success. I really think that Steve Sanderson is on par with the Dan Gables and Bill Walshes when it comes to legacy.
  12. Cankle-neck looks to be really banged up. He had even less cardio than usual during folk - was relying strictly on defensive judo and go-big Clydesdale moves. Not sure if it was because of a full transition to GR but I’m sus that he’s not hurt.
  13. Team Illinois with a strong presence in the GR semis
  14. I didn't say it is happening. I said it would be the best place.
  15. Some people use the phrase "that's like the pot calling the kettle black." Other people use the phrase "we don't want to accuse the Russian 97 of juicing because look at our 86."
  16. The best place for Lee to improve as both a competitor and future coach is Happy Valley. He fits in very well with the Carl/Casey/Snyder/Varner selfless school of thought. Not sure how his Charizard would do in a battle against Jesus though...
  17. He was on weight until Willie sabotaged the whole operation!
  18. ETA Pantaleo as the runner up at 70 I guess? Missing a certain hollow bird bone dude.
  19. 57 Gilman. I hate myself. I hate everything about myself for doing this. I want Lee. I also want Zane because I’m a homer but I REALLY want Lee. Taking over Richards in my heart but Lee on the record. 61 Fix over Gross 65 McKenna over Yianni 70 Greezy (or Zain I guess). Unless JG signs up last minute that I guess, uh, “that dude” to get reached by Zain 74 Dake over Nolf 79 JB over Starocci 86 Taylor over Brooks (but gawd I love me some Zahid 92 Moore over Jackson. But I applaud Cox for moving on from being a 2x world champ and 6x medalist going on a vision quest to take out someone domestically who is top 3 p4p and wanting to ultimately hunt down the world p4p champ. Just make weight this time dumb dumb. 97 Snyder makes weight and cleans house. By Cox 125 Steveson over Gwiz
  20. Gonna be real awkward if he places higher post-ACL reconstruction than the other HWC dude
