  1. It is crazy to think Steve Sanderson (Cael's father) was not offered the job at BYU and then swore that his boys would not go to BYU. What would the landscape of college wrestling look like in the western states had Steve got the job instead of Schultz?
  2. In the past OU would never hire an Aggie. If John Smith were available, that might be a different story. I like Branch and have been surprised that UW didn't have more success under Branch.
  3. You better not forgive them. Nobody likes a quitter!
  4. Like @CHROMEBIRD I thought Lou was starting to get some traction as well.
  5. @Wrestleknownothing That's right! I just read that a few days ago. Thanks for the reminder. I have read several articles about schools in the rust belt and Midwest struggling to get new students & retain current students. So I am surprised when I see that a D3 school in the Midwest has added wrestling. I love more college wrestling, but I also fear that they will not be around in a few short years.
  6. Unfortunately it is that time of year. I heard that Limestone has dropped their women's program. Not sure if the men's program was spared or if they both got the axe. Could @Jason Bryant share some insight on this? Are there any other programs that have bit the dust?
  7. @Jason Bryant How good/bad was Oklahoma City? I know that has been several years ago, but it didn't seem too bad.
  8. Mizzou coach Brian Smith recently said something along the lines of.... he is not really concerned with kids at Fargo. He wants to see if a kid can get up off bottom.
  9. Great response @Idaho! When Cael left for PSU I wanted Terry to get the ISU job. I thought he would stir it up and develop a rivalry with PSU. But Kevin getting the job ISU was far better!
  10. How soon before Kevin calls another Hawk to join them?
  11. Its because we have an unlimited amount of likes!
  12. I bought $5 tickets when it was in OKC and I might have paid $10 for a Finals ticket.
  13. With that kind of performance at the NCAA's, sounds like there needs to be some more emotion in the room. I have thought for years that Joel needed to go and he can take his Kent State guy with him. Get some new blood in there and make that conference something worth watching. They remind me of Minkel during his last 5 years at Michigan State. Kent read, Kent write, Kent State!
  14. Yeah its not like they are having a hard time selling tickets to CHA. Not sure if the benefits outweigh to costs.
  15. The B1G schools are playing it smart by waiting to see the lower divisions clean up the circus before they enter the ring. The lower level schools have a hard enough time finding FS Officials, add more programs to the mix and that problem becomes even worse. When I say having problems, that is not even with 3 man mechanics.
  16. It is a fast growing sport for sure. There are too many small schools that think adding women's wrestling will reverse the sad financial situation that they are in. The schools don't have adequate facilities, want to hire 1 coach to cover both programs, or hire a coach and only pay them $40K. I won't even get into the Head Coach that was breast feeding her kid while driving the van home from a tournament or the assistant coach with blue hair that goes to all events with ripped up jeans. That is not a look that I would want for my school if I was the AD. Plus she looked like she fell headfirst into a tackle box. How many D1 or B1G schools are standing in line to have a slice of that?
  17. No it really isn't. It is a circus that the B1G schools don't want any part of.
  18. If more D1 programs add women's wrestling, that will be the death of women's D3. The market is currently flooded. Too many programs and not enough girls want to wrestle in college.
  19. Sure the coach can respond, it's called NAIA! No Athletic Investigation Allowed
  20. Probably a good thing. I don't know if he cracks the lineup at Iowa. Jesuroga already knows not to kick start a Ferrari (unlike the OU HWT). They already know one another, as they were all wrestling together as utes in Texas.
  21. Plus dad will open a fine Italian restaurant! Iowans have to be happy about that, no more Pizza Ranch!
