  1. Really? Off the top of my head Davis "whiffed" on Cole Conrad, Tim Hartung, Garrett Lowney, Ben Askren, and Alex Dieringer. I believe that is a total of 9 NCAA individual titles, 12 NCAA Finals appearances, 3 Hodge Trophies, 2 Olympians, and 1 Olympic medal. I'm not a Bono apologist, but come on, there has been great Wisconsin prep talent leaving the state for 30 years now.
  2. That's because he had a fall in each tournament that he won, thus disqualifying him from the discussion started in the OP.
  3. Dale Lewis 1961 UNL 13 total points, 5 of which were scored two OT periods from two different matches.
  4. Lowell Lang won 136 lbs in 1950 scoring 16 points.
  5. I'm interested in how this plays out. Barry Alvarez was the athletic director when Bono and Askren were hired (and when Askren resigned). The current AD, Chris Macintosh, was associate AD during those times. I'm not sure how much he had to do with those situations, but he would certainly be aware of them. Also, Macintosh was a Wisconsin state wrestling champion from suburban Milwaukee (like Askren) and would have known about Askren since Ben's high school days. I'm not an insider, so I don't know if Macintosh is an Askren fan or not.
  6. I agree internationally that Amos is a bigger name, but for NCAA I believe Hamiti is the bigger name.
  7. 2023 B1G 7th place 125 Dean Peterson of Rutgers (3-2 at NC, bloodround) 133 Brody Teske of Iowa (1-2 at NC) 141 Joseph Zargo of Wisconsin (0-2 at NC) 149 Chance Lamer of Michigan (3-2 at NC, bloodround) 157 Cobe Siebrecht of Iowa (1-2 at NC) 165 Alex Facundo of Penn State (0-2 at NC) 174 Jackson Turley of Rutgers (1-2 at NC, former AA) 184 Abe Assad of Iowa (1-2 at NC, former 2nd team AA in COVID year) 197 Braxton Amos of Wisconsin (0-1 at NC) 285 Hayden Copass of Purdue (1-2 at NC) Anyone want to do a deep dive on matchups with D2/D3 Champions?
  8. Started out at Minnesota, I think he redshirted that first year. Not sure if he wrestled in opens, but was in the room.
  9. I don’t think it would go very well for the D2 and D3 guys against D1 AAs. I wonder what a dual of D2/3 Champs vs 7th place B1G tournament guys would go.
  10. We received the "no means no" talk every year.
  11. Are you sure they were told specifically not to commit sexual assault?
  12. It's generally not illegal to use a sauna.
  13. Can Churella be awarded his NCAA Championship now?
  14. Destin originally committed to Wisconsin, but then Pritzlaf and Frayer left, so he never ended up going there.
  15. Yes, but I have to be honest I googled it just to be sure!
  16. Learn which weight class allows you to come in a few pounds under while at your natural weight.
  17. Shhhhhhh, you found a realistic loophole!
  18. Lewis was up a couple weight classes when he made his "comeback", which added another level of difficulty. He was active on the old board when this took place. He said he cut over 20 lbs just to make 74 kg (?) and he was so old and out of shape he couldn't wrestle to train for Northern Plains, it would beat him up too bad and he'd get hurt. All he did was ride the exercise bike and hit the sauna.
  19. The running over a rat thing is so stupid, it almost has to be true. No one would ever make up a lie that ridiculous.
