  1. He lost his last contested match, and was too injured to compete in his last 2 matches.
  2. Spencer Lee, in his prime, is the GOAT on top. No one else could turn guys with such ease and frequency as Spencer when he was at his best. He may have fewer championships than Sanderson, Dake, Yianni and Stieber and more losses than a bunch of guys, but he is truly the GOAT when it comes to tilting guys on top.
  3. Early buzz has him transferring to Iowa
  4. No way in hell Yianni finishes 5th in Hodge Voting. At worst he'll be 2nd.
  5. 70% bonus is very good. Only Alirez had a higher percentage. And AOC is a 2x champ. I think the only knock on him was that 157 was not a particularly "hard" weight as the #2 seed was a true freshman who wasn't even the definite starter on his team until midway through the season.
  6. Only knock on him is his bonus % isn't great - 4 out of the 10 finalists have a better percentage than him. Also not sure he wrestled the toughest competition. Might actually give that to KOT, though he has the 2 losses.
  7. https://www.win-magazine.com/2023/03/21/fanvote/ 125 Pat Glory, Princeton (undefeated) 133 Vito Arujau, Cornell 141 Andrew Alirez, Northern Colorado (undefeated) 149 Yianni Diakomihalis, Cornell 157 Austin O’Connor, North Carolina (undefeated) 165 Keegan O’Toole, Missouri 174 Carter Starocci, Penn State (undefeated) 184 Aaron Brooks, Penn State 197 Nino Bonaccorsi, Pittsburgh (undefeated) Hwt Mason Parris, Michigan (undefeated) I believe Yianni wins it. Yes, I know he has 1 loss, but he is a 4x NCAA champ which outweighs everything else.
  8. Given the drama at Ohio University he may be available in the transfer portal soon:
  9. I don't know, but yeah a 4 team "championship" would not be that exciting --- it probably would be bad for the sport when Iowa wins every single weight.
  10. I think the entire tournament would have to take place in 1 session since there are only 4 D1 women's programs: Iowa, Lock Haven, Sacred Heart and Presbyterian College. I would be shocked if Iowa's team didn't win everything single championship. NCAA Schools 1. Adrian College - Adrian, MI - NCAA Div. III 2. Albion College - Albion, MI – NCAA Div III 3. 11. Who is more likely to suit up for the Hawkeyes - Jesuroga or Keuter?
  12. If he is a legit NFL prospect meaning, he will be drafted, there is absolutely zero financial rationale for him to wrestle. Getting injured wrestling (knee, concussion, etc) would literally cost of millions of dollars (maybe over $10 million) if he has the talent to be a NFL draft pick. By comparison, someone like Spencer Lee, once of the greatest wrestlers of all time, has no shot at earning 1/50 of what a legit NFL prospect will earn over a football career, through wrestling alone.
  13. Gun crimes aren't a big deal in Iowa. In fact several wrestlers in recent memory got in trouble for gun-related offenses and it was NBD, if I recall. Also what happened with Montell Marion's "permanent" temporary suspension? https://www.thegazette.com/crime-courts/former-iowa-wrestler-montell-marion-arrested-again/ "Marion's once-permanent suspension from the Hawkeye wrestling squad was lifted in January 2011. Despite an offered transfer release from the UI, he chose to stay and try to regain his spot on the team. Marion earned his spot back and received the team's Mike J. McGivern Award for the team's most courageous wrestler. In March, Marion made his second NCAA finals appearance and placed second in an overtime battle."
  14. https://www.linkedin.com/in/carson-manville-03769a21a/ He is graduating this year, and appears no, he didn't wrestle in college.
  15. Ok, well if Bouzakis ends up at Iowa will you be back here to say "I was wrong"?
  16. Are the 3 brothers close? I assume yes. I assume they will hang out and live together if they end up at the same college. I assume they will go out together and get into trouble together... Doubt it's 2 of them out at the bar and the 3rd one studying in the library.
  17. I think RBY took the match a bit too lightly, and with more prep and focus he could win. But the reality is Vito is physically superior (especially when it comes to length) and has better wrestling credentials, period excepting RBY has 2 NCAA titles to Vito's 1.
  18. Would have helped if Ok St and Oklahoma were bigger title threats. The state is in a major downswing for wrestling.
  19. See above, no I'm not. "vhsalum" is the poster I am referring to.
  20. vhsalum HR All-State 58 minutes ago #684 Anthony - middle brother of the Ferrari clan (and likely the most troublesome one) "commited" to Iowa. Hawk Insiders Gobblin and bnicolls have confirmed that Tom is going after older brother and former natty champ AJ and the younger brother. AJ has felony charges pending, but it's possible that they get dropped. Anthony has pled guilty to misdemeanor assault charges, with sentencing likely on April 11. Nic Bouzakis, assumed to be Ohio State's 133 pounder next year, is very likely going to leave tOSU and transfer to Iowa. Considering the likely $$$ it is taking to secure these 4 transfers - they will all be in the lineup with the exception of Angelo (who will be a high school senior). So our lineup next year could be: 125 - Ayala 133 - Bouzakis 141 - Woods 149 - Chittum 157 - Ferrari 165 - PK 174 - Brands 184 - Assad (please god no) 197 - AJ 285 - Cass
  21. Hawkeye Report has a long discussion thread following the commitment of Anthony Ferrari to the Hawkeyes. Apparently Tom Brands is courting the other 2 Ferrari brothers despite their pending criminal cases. But the bigger surprise is that Nic Bouzakis from Ohio State is supposedly ready to transfer to Iowa because the academics at Ohio State are too difficult? Any Ohio State fans hear about this?
