  1. Thanks guys. I’m not exactly sure what this means, but it seems like no one does at the moment lol
  2. I’m guessing Sadulaev doesn’t show. If he does, it makes it look like he wasn’t really injured yesterday and just broke (not saying that’s the case, but that’s what it would look like). Related question: How does Olympic qualification work for AIN athletes? Can he qualify the weight for Russia here? Or would it be qualifying as an individual? Obviously that’s a big motivation to get him to wrestle, but I doubt he wants to wrestle Snyder while he’s not 100%
  3. I think you have to separate the different styles. Greco would have its own “Mt. Rushmore” as would women’s freestyle. The top 3 in Men’s freestyle is pretty clear to me although you can debate their order… Smith, JB and Big Bruce. After that, right now it should be Snyder but Dake and Taylor are on his heels. Next year will be telling. I’m most confident in DT winning Olympic gold, and if he does and the other two don’t, he takes the 4th spot
  4. I thought the same thing watching it live, but on the replay you could clearly see after Sidakov hits the “Peterson” thing, Dake then did a little kick over that got him to expose.
  5. Snyder. He also has 3 world golds and an Olympic gold. He also has several silvers behind one the greatest of all time wrestlers
  6. Wow! Never would’ve thought we’d see someone take out both Snyder and Sadulaev in dominant fashion!
  7. Wow some awesome matches in the semis so far! Pumped for Rivera… that was an awesome comeback!! Musukaev seems to have fixed his gas tank issue. That’s gonna make him hard to beat, but I’ll be rooting for Rivera
  8. So in all seriousness, has this never happened before?! Pretty incredible feat even if it’s been done before
  9. Pretty much agree except I think Gable has no problem with Geno on his feet. Only way it’s close is if Geno gets his gut again.
  10. I think he’s right there with the “big 3”. Clearly showed that with Geno and that has to put him there with Akgul. Zare seems to be improving faster than the other two (as should be expected due to age), so it’s hard to tell if he’s separated himself that much or is just a bad matchup for Geno. Obviously, Parris beat him in the past, but I’d love to see that match now. What’s crazy to me is the separation Gable has shown from Parris. He’s just on another planet!
  11. I noticed this trend too. Honestly, I kinda like it because some are sooo close I hate seeing a judgment call make such a big difference. However, it does come off like they are basically saying we’re not sure who initiated that so we will compromise.
  12. This is absolutely true. Pretty much all colleges have recognized this now and do not simply go by wrestle offs. However, I’m still not sure I would want us to do that. America is the land of opportunity and I like how we provide an opportunity for someone to pull an upset an not just select who we think is best. Maybe there would be compromise but not sure how that would look? Maybe put our top guys in some international tournaments and see how they do? It would have to be multiple tournaments though because draw plays a huge factor
  13. I didn’t think I’d see Yazdani and Taylor both get taken down in the quarters. Amine wrestled Yazdani tough. Sharipov wrestled Taylor tough and still got teched
  14. Iowa could get the best non-PSU wrestler to transfer in at every weight and still might lose to Penn State
  15. He learned this technique at DF’s summer camp, and executed it perfectly!
  16. Stanford should hire Ramos and then it would be a real good rivalry
  17. You all realize Cael is Mormon, right? And almost all of the wrestlers he coached are an entirely different religion than he is (only exception I can think of is Matt Brown). So he is clearly not promoting his own religion. Gus nailed it… he simply creates that atmosphere for his athletes and it clearly helps to believe in something bigger than yourself.
  18. You may not be able to do it with 77 teams lol. But Cornell and Nebraska would at least have an outside shot.
  19. To be fair, it’s pretty much the only way to have a hypothetical PSU loss. You need to find six weights PSU could lose… it’s not 174, 197, or 285. One of them almost has to be 165. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him beat Ramirez, but it was the most logical way to have Cornell/Nebraska win the dual.
  20. I think Cornell and Nebraska have the best chance at beating PSU. There are of course some toss ups that Penn State could win and could easily give them the dual. However, I don’t think there’s any two team combo that has a better chance 125 - Ungar dec. Howard 3-0 133 - Vito dec. Nagao 6-0 141 - Hardy dec. Bartlett 9-0 149 - Lovett Dec. Van Ness 12-0 157 - Robb Dec. Haines 15-0 165 - Ramirez Dec. Messenbrink 18-0 174 - Starocci Dec. Foca 18-3 184 - Truax Dec. Pinto 18-6 197 - Brooks Maj. Allred 18-10 285 - Kerkvliet maj. Fernandes 18-14
  21. Jimmy said vs Mineo said…. I’m not sure which one to not believe
  22. I think this is a good idea. We all know that there’s no way Brooks should be given a special wrestle off based on the rules this year. However, the sentiment that OP is concerned about does make sense… since Zahid lost earlier in the process, he gets a chance to move up, but since Brooks lost in the finals it was too late.
  23. If you are literally looking for the “pound for pound” GOAT, it would be really tough for it to be a Heavyweight. You’d have to take all of Gable Steveson’s greatness and divide it by 285. Compare that to Spencer Lee’s greatness divided by 125 and Lee wins easily
