  1. I really liked the Ides of March inclusion. mspart
  2. I figured Jordan would get there. Apparently not. That secret vote was a killer. Well, that's the way it goes. Who's up next? mspart
  3. Appears so. But one of them being Undead, you never know. Might be getting help if you know what I mean. mspart
  4. WKN = Steve! Whoda thunk? There's only a billion Steve's out there so your secret is still probably safe. mspart
  5. This pretty much explains it. At the risk of putting an link in and quoting some of it, this explains in very good detail what the current emphasis is. It also is derisive of any opposing view. This is not the complete article, but if you want to read more, click on the link. https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2022/09/how-to-teach-gender-identity-in-schools/671422/ What to Teach Young Kids About Gender Schools should tell children to be themselves. But some districts say too much—and mistake progressive dogma for established fact. By Conor Friedersdorf For the foreseeable future, parents and educators will be grappling with this polarizing question: What, if anything, should prepubescent public-school students be taught about gender identity? “Resources and lesson plans for those who want to teach about gender identity are becoming much more common,” The Washington Post reported in June. “Seven states now require that curriculums include LGBTQ topics. The National Sex Education Standards, developed by experts and advocacy groups, name gender identity as one of seven essential topics, alongside puberty, consent, sexual orientation and other subjects. And the federal government recommends that schools include gender identity in their sex education programs.” The push is to start young. California’s Department of Education urges kindergarten teachers to dispel gender stereotypes, laying groundwork “for acceptance, inclusiveness, and an anti-bullying environment,” because “some children in kindergarten or even younger have identified as transgender.” Some educators favor earlier interventions. The eight co-authors of the 2019 book Supporting Gender Diversity in Early Childhood Classrooms argue that too little emphasis is given to gender identity in the years before age 6, when educators have “a chance to prime all parents for supporting their children’s gender health” and “the opportunity to educate all children about gender diversity and introduce them to role models of a variety of genders.” But a rival faction has reacted by insisting, at the other extreme, that instruction involving gender identity has no place at all in early-childhood education. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a law in March that prohibits public schools from presenting any instruction on gender identity until at least the fourth grade. According to NPR, at least a dozen other states are considering similar legislation. The issue could be a political winner for the Republicans who are pushing it. A recent survey sponsored by the American Federation of Teachers finds that 58 percent of likely voters in battleground states disapprove of the way students are taught about “sexual preference and gender identity.” Asked to explain why, 31 percent said “students are too young for [the] material,” while 27 percent said parents are responsible for teaching it. mspart
  6. Well, I will believe it was Bob until proven otherwise. Yes Plasi, he actually addressed the question and gave a cogent response. It was pretty good for an alive guy let alone a dead one!! mspart
  7. This is the best post I've seen from our dear deceased brother. Thank you Bob, well done! mspart
  8. I'm thinking Jordan needs to stop. When McCarthy did this, he had just a few holdouts and he was the hands on heir apparent. Jordan isn't. There is no heir apparent. It is a unique time in House history that the majority doesn't have a clear leader. mspart
  9. They took Hamas health agency at their word. They didn't critically think about it at all. Well Hamas said it so it must be so. Biden missed a meeting with Jordan, PLO, and others because of the lie. mspart
  10. It is mandatory in WA state. They start in K-5. When the debate was going on in the legislature, they had to stop televising (service is like a C-span but for the state) the proceedings because the content was too graphic as they were going through what would be taught. mspart
  11. Rasta, I appreciate your question. I think you misunderstood what I wrote. I meant to convey that it is the Progressives that have the re-education camp. If that didn't come across correctly I apologize. I was just giving examples of behavior on the progressive side that the folks on the far right would be fighting against. I don't think generally that patriotism, core ethical values, and religion are what is wrong with America or could be wrong with America. Generally speaking, I see progressives as being against these things. So I hit on them for this, because I think these things are some of the primary reasons why America is great. mspart
  12. I don't disagree with this. But there is no similar differentiation that I know of between conservative and ???. But there certainly is a contingent that is opposed to the progressives' agenda. But in my opinion, everyone should be against the progressives' agenda. It progresses nothing. It takes us back to earlier times of discrimination and reduction of rights and takes us into fantasyland saying that men can menstruate and have babies, and women can impregnate each other. Menstruating people, lactating people, pregnant people. These are things that women do. Men pretending to be women do not do these things. Why are we rearranging our language for a lunatic fringe? But this is part and parcel of the progressive agenda. If you don't believe in these things, they have suggested re-education camps for you. mspart
  13. My statement was general in nature, not aimed at you specifically. BobDole, the dead senator who somehow is able to post here, is especially fond of giving me grief for this. mspart
  14. I was harrangued for providing links to backup my claims. Now that is exactly what is being asked. This board is certainly consistent in its inconsistency. mspart
  15. https://www.psypost.org/2022/08/new-study-helps-pinpoint-the-key-differences-between-liberals-and-progressives-in-the-united-states-63768 Is a progressive in the United States just a more extreme version of a liberal? New research suggests that is not the case. Self-described progressives and self-described liberals have significantly different views on a number of issues related to free speech, equality, diversity, and identity, according to a series of studies published in the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin. ... “Relative to traditional liberals within the U.S. left-wing, it appears that progressives are more likely to 1) advocate for ‘Mandated Diversity’ within institutional settings, 2) show ‘Cultural Appropriation Concerns’ regarding creative expression, 3) apply ‘Public Censure’ of divergent views, and 4) are less likely to pursue a ‘Recourse to Existing Institutions’ to bring about political change,” Proulx told PsyPost. Here is another similar description of Progressive and Liberal. This makes me wonder if the D caucus in the Congress is actually more progressive than liberal. Somehow the progressives have seemed to gain the ability to run the train. The liberals are along for the ride. That's generally what I see. mspart
  16. That was targeted especially for you Plasi. mspart
  17. Well, the numbers are getting bigger. That probably a good thing for a fair amount of posters on this board. I honestly don't care if it is Jordan or anyone else on the R side. Just saying. mspart
  18. I think this is mostly true. Anyone else have an opinion. mspart
