  1. A bit aggressive in that you are projecting them to outperform their prior selves by 6 points. Again, not unrealistic, just a bit aggressive. As for the PSU premium, by comparing to themselves, the PSU premium is already baked in. As for specific weight predictions, it is easy to say the logic of each is exactly correct, and therefore the sum is correct. But in reality, some will be high and some will be low. While I did say they won't threaten the 170 total, I also said on further reflection/analysis that, yes, it is possible. I would have a hard time picking either the over or the under at this point.
  2. Yes, the East Regional as a qualifier continued to exist. But the way I read the 1981 guide was that the the Eastern Regional Wrestling Association was a conference separate and distinct from the East Regional qualifier. It is listed among the other conferences in the results section. None of the regional qualifying tournaments are listed among those results.
  3. I think I will make this an annual plea. I just made my contribution to the NWHOF: https://nwhof.org/ And you should too. I find it to be an invaluable resource as I plow through NCAA wrestling data. I worry that the history of the sport will disappear and I want to make sure that data is always available, so I make my contributions. Consider doing the same. To the extent that you enjoy reading about that history, a contribution will go a long way towards your continued enjoyment. Check out their archive of materials. The old wrestling guides are my favorite place to go: https://nwhof.org/national-wrestling-hall-of-fame/guides I mean, where else are you going to find gems like this? So if it is in your budget, donate early. Donate often. And enjoy the fruits of other people's labors. https://nwhof.org/support
  4. My thought exactly. It looks like 1980 was the last year for the ERWA. In 1981 VT, ODU, James Madison, George Mason, VCU, and Richmond are all in the Virginia Intercollegiate Wrestling Championships. Then VCU and East Carolina dropped after 1981.
  5. This was really bugging me. I could not find any mention of Dayton via internet searches. They did not ever send a wrestler to NCAAs either (I checked the brackets). But lo and behold, I found them mentioned in the 1981 NCAA Wrestling Guide as members of the Eastern Regional Wrestling Association. They finished the 1980 season with a 5-11 record under coach Will Place. However, the did not heed their coach's name, coming in last place with a whopping 1.75 points in the conference tournament. Other teams in the ERWA in 1980 were Slippery Rock, Virginia Tech, East Carolina, Rutgers, Shippensburg State, Old Dominion, James Madison, George Washington, Virginia, Commonwealth, Campbell, Farleigh Dickinson, Richmond, Indiana (PA), George Mason, and Wagner.
  6. OK, let's play that out. Last year their returning starters placed DNP, 5, 3, 3, 2, DNP, 1, 4 (up a weight), 1 (down a weight), 2. This year you have them DNP, 3, 3, 3, 1, 5, 1, 2, 1, 2. They return 136.5 points and you are calling for 142.5. Perhaps a bit aggressive, but certainly not unrealistic. Last year their returning starters had 20 bonus points. With the added points per takedown they would have had the 10 incremental bonus points (0, 0.5, 1, 2, 2, 0, 1, 1, 1, 0.5). That puts them at 172.5. So, yes it is possible. But is 170 really the number? Or do we rescore the Iowa total using the current rules? If so, it is 170.5 (unless it is 171.5, see Note below) Probably not, but I think we should even if I am sure to be in the minority here. NOTE: Back in May when I rescored the 1997 Iowa team using 1997 scoring rules I came up with 171, not 170. I asked if anyone knew what the difference was attributable to (did I make a mistake?, was there a team point deduction?), but no one seemed to know the answer, or at least no one I asked.
  7. Didn't it used to be common when more big football schools had wrestling? I think of the Golics at ND, for example.
  8. Thos version of Penn State doesn't score nearly enough bonus points to threaten the scoring record.
  9. Ok. So this is narrative that people like to talk about as policy or law.
  10. Good memory. 1985 Chris Edmonds 167 - Tennessee's only national champ and highest team finish (8th). http://www.wrestlingstats.com/ncaa/pdf/brackets/NCAA 1985.pdf 1986 - Tennessee's last season. Auburn finished 9th the year they got dropped (1981). http://www.wrestlingstats.com/ncaa/pdf/brackets/NCAA 1981.pdf But I couldn't find anything about Dayton wrestling. Any idea when that would have been? I do see Akron, though, from 1937 to 1981.
  11. All right. Chicago is on the list. Now point me to where it is ok to steal in Chicago.
  12. Are you referring to the previously mentioned the "its ok to steal a certain amount" policy claim? If so, where can I find that?
  13. I have asked about this one. I got the "if you don't know, I'm not telling you" deflection instead.
  14. South Africa is hosting the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) Summit this week. Someone on here was claiming that the BRICS would create a currency that would dethrone the USD as the reserve currency. I chuckled.
  15. You claim to be an educator and yet you keep passing on the oppprtunity to educate. I fundamentally disagree with many of the people you disagree with, but I certainly do not agree with you.
  16. I do not know. As for the "apology", it is not an apology if in the same sentence you call me a liar. I also have no idea what your 30% refers to.
  17. Covered in the note in the OP. Everything was scored using today's scoring.
  18. Why debate when he has a massive lead? All he can do is give the field a chance. Add in the problem with being on stage with Pence while subject to an order not to intimidate a witness.
