Before I get blown up, I don’t have a dog in the fight. I’m a Mizzou fan sitting here watching a great dual between two top teams. Legit question and discussion point…. Looking at Eierman, and now seeing Teske, Woods, Franek, Caliendo…is transferring to Iowa improving these guys? To be fair, bringing this up as Iowa is wrestling the best team in the country, but…thoughts? Not sure who is a part of the HWC, which could be a factor to transfer there, but doesn’t seem like it’s putting these guys over the top on the college level. Thinking of Eierman’s comments that he felt Iowa could push him to the top of the podium, and assume Woods felt the same way. Unfortunately didn’t happen for Jayden and not looking great for Woods now.

You're comparing apples to oranges; land/properties are segregated based on their use (ie. residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, non-profit, etc.), and each has its own tax accountability. They receive different subsidies or tax breaks depending on what they're zoned for. Let's take church out of it...let's say that 1/10th of your proposal is a non-profit home for orphans. Should they be taxed when they have zero income? Again, the money being "written off" has already been taxed. Didn't see that you answered that question about non-profits...

Yet the federal government still funds Planned Parenthood.... Planned Parenthood received $1.78 billion in taxpayer funds between fiscal years 2019 and 2021 — including $90 million in small-business loans during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a new government report. Planned Parenthood Federation of America — the nation’s largest abortion provider — received $1.54 billion in direct payments from Medicare, Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program, according to a Government Accountability Office report released Tuesday. The abortion giant also got $148 million through Department of Health and Human Services grants or agreements and $90 million through Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans.

Nice setup. However, you asked if I support them being tax exempt. There’s a difference between being tax exempt and tax money going to them. One takes money out of my pocket and the other doesn’t. I support them being tax exempt just like I support my annual donations to St. Jude being tax exempt. Why should a non-profit pay taxes on money that is donated (which is post-tax income from the person who donated)? They go through a vetting process to be non-profit and tax exempt just like other non-profits. There’s no difference. You may not agree with it, and it’s completely fine to not agree… but if they’re spending donated money on something that doesn’t generate a profit, I don’t see harm in it. If you personally choose not to donate (again…you have the choice, you don’t with taxes), then how does it harm you or affect your personal finances? The answer is, it doesn’t.

Redshirt Keegan and Rocky next year...?
The_KC_Godfather replied to The_KC_Godfather's topic in College Wrestling
I agree. Wasn’t it during Mauller’s RS year that he wrestled some open tournaments at 157 and struggled? I thought that would deter him from bumping up. He’s still listed at 149 on the roster. Is he too big to still make 149 for the second half of the season? -
I agree that the men should pay half the cost, no doubt. I didn’t mean to imply that the men are not at fault…if they’re having one night stands with random women, they’re whores too. Replace the word whore with whatever terminology you prefer. I get your point, but to me, there’s a big difference between funding schools as a society and funding after-the-fact birth control. Kids have to be educated or we’ll fall into Idiocracy. People don’t have to have one night stands or be reckless with contraception. Funding of a football stadium with tax dollars is also ridiculous, in my opinion, but you also have the choice to live in that county or state where your tax dollars go towards it. That’s why local government should decide vs. federal…gives you the opportunity to move if you don’t like it.

Redshirt Keegan and Rocky next year...?
The_KC_Godfather replied to The_KC_Godfather's topic in College Wrestling
Rocky to Hwt. With Sinclair at 197 would make that lineup even stronger. And I agree it’s a lot of freshmen, but not unheard of. Wonder if Keegan and Rocky will stick around to train with the RTC? If so, I can see them being ok with redshirting. Who knows though… -

If they are not for profit, yes. Do you think non-profits should be tax exempt?

Laugh away…I don’t see anything funny about my statement. Clearly you’re intellectually superior to everyone here so I’m sure you’ll enlighten me. Women have the right to choose, but their choice is made when they choose to have sex. They know there’s a chance they’ll get pregnant. If you don’t want a child, keep your legs closed. If you want to have sex and get an abortion, cool…pay for it yourself. Don’t use private insurance to drive up my rates or use tax payer dollars. Maybe money out of their own pocket will make them think twice next time. How many people do you think would support abortion if it cost $20k out of pocket? The key point is they have a choice up front. If you don’t have a choice (rape), then you should absolutely be helped financially by the government.

Looking at the strong classes coming into Mizzou over the next two seasons, would it make sense for Smith to redshirt Keegan and Rocky next year to potentially have a powerhouse of a team in 25/26? Don't know that it matters with PSU always being the heir apparent to the throne, but maybe for a second place finish? They could still be very competitive with Surtin, Moore, Gioffre, Whiting and Sinclair in the lineup. Thoughts? I think it would look something like this... 24/25 Season 125: Noah Surtin (RS-SR.) 133: Kade Moore (RS-SO.) 141: Josh Edmond (RS-JR.) 149: Logan Gioffre (RS-SR.) 157: Cam Steed (RS-SO.) 165: James Conway (RS-SO.) 174: Sean Harman (RS-SR.) or Ellis Pfleger (RS-JR.) 184: Clayton Whitting (RS-SO.) 197: Aedon Sinclair (Fr.) -- Big Board #7 285: Ryan Boersma (RS-SO.) Redshirt Mauger, Crapps, Roller, O'Toole, Elam ------------------------ 25/26 Season 125: Mack Mauger (RS-FR.) -- Big Board #74 133: Jake Crapps (RS-FR.) -- Big Board #37 141: Kade Moore (RS-JR.) 149: Josh Edmond (RS-SR.) 157: Jace Roller (RS-FR.) -- Big Board #26 165: Kollin Rath (FR.) -- Big Board #9 174: Keegan O'Toole (RS-SR.) 184: Clayton Whitting (RS-JR.) 197: Rocky Elam (RS-SR.) 285: Ryan Boersma (RS-JR.) or Sampson Stillwell (FR.) -- Big Board #52 Redshirt Sinclair and Stillwell (maybe)

Nailed it. My problem with abortion (other than I disagree with it morally, but that's my opinion...not something others should care about or follow) is that tax payer money (ie. money I worked hard for) goes towards supporting it. If you want to sleep around and not use protection, then why should I pay for your abortion if you don't want a kid?? That's the point of leaving it to the states. If you want to live in a state and have your tax dollars go towards someone who whore's around and is too stupid to not use protection (instead of tax dollars going to, say, providing free lunch to underprivileged kids), fine. I choose to not live in a state like that. Any federal funding for planned parenthood or the like should be completely out of bounds.

Mizzou vs West Virginia/Cornell
The_KC_Godfather replied to MizzouFan01's topic in College Wrestling
Is this a reference to Coach Smith or Coach Grey? Assume Smith. One thing I'll say is that he recruits "good", but not great. For being a consistently top program, he doesn't get anywhere near the high level recruits that PSU and Iowa do (and even tOSU, OSU, and others), but always seems to develop them into top tier talent. I truly wonder where Missouri would be if they attracted the same top recruits that these other schools do, with the development that Smith and his staff are able to bring. Hell...PSU consistently gets like 5-7 of the top 10 big board recruits. Who can compete with that? Where I get frustrated (and I have to catch myself) is when we have a sluggish performance like we just did against Cornell. I/we have to remember a couple of things. 1) Smith doesn't have his wrestlers duck people (e.g. Keegan goes and will bump up for best comp...so did Askren). and 2) this is a long season and Mizzou starts early. I didn't realize that the B1G was literally just starting their dual season after the beginning of the year, while Mizzou has been dueling for several months. Maybe it makes sense and the B1G has the right idea to give their wrestlers less matches, and later, to keep them fresh...but that sure doesn't make me happy as a wrestling fan who wants to see dual wrestling as soon as October after waiting 7 months from the last NCAA's. If you look at the number of top-tier HS recruits that PSU and other big name schools get, and you look at the HS recruits that Mizzou gets and what they're ranked coming in, and then compare that to their results every single year for the past 15-20 years...well....Smith is one of the best coaches in the country, hands down. Give him the same recruits that Cael gets and Mizzou does the same thing they do, no question. -

What is going on with Mizzou? They look terrible. The flu going around or something?? Not taking anything away from Cornell…they look fantastic. -

I was thinking the same in the Edmond match. Dude…you’re down by two takedowns, don’t just stand there and wait for them to do something… -

That was a damn fun dual to watch! Maybe I'm the only one but good God...enjoyed every minute of it! If you like watching wrestling, I'd hope you agree with me... -
I searched for a lot of these on Roku last night and couldn't find quite a few. How/where do you watch these? The next question is....what are your top 5-10, in order?

Thanks for all of the great feedback and info! It wasn't Vision Quest or Wrestle. If I remember right, it was similar to Takedowns and Falls (in fact, I bought Takedowns and Falls because I was thinking it was Doug Schweiger), but thought it was with more "preppy" kids, and the scene I was thinking of wasn't in Takedowns and Falls. Maybe I'm just losing my mind...

I'm sure somebody will know here what movie I'm trying to find. There is a scene where one of the (HS) kids is walking to the back of the bus with an attitude, pissed off about something with life. It's not Takedowns and Falls or Wrestle...driving me crazy I can't think of it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I really enjoyed the AJ Ferrari era.

The caption in the post "If it doesn’t work dm her and she will help give you a discount manually.' makes me a bit uncomfortable. Not a sales guy, but, probably shouldn't suggest that something doesn't work, And if it doesn't work, I want my money back, not a discount....? I get it the dude is trying to make some money off of his "fame" while he can, and some company thinks he's worth the marketing (how much did they pay him for this promo??), but....maybe don't have him go off script and write the script for him to stick to.... -
Midwest Wrestle may have adjusted the thumbnails after all this. I still see two that are inappropriate...and doing my best to give the benefit of the doubt, I'd hope he'd change these, but he still made some cash off the 82mm views he received. I did a quick comparison of the number of views /video and followers of one of my favorite popular BBQ guys vs. Midwest Wrestle, and the numbers seem off for what he provides vs.this dudes videos. Maybe I'm wrong, and I pray that he's not a pedo, but makes me wonder. Would be a good idea to change the thumbs....

Great recap...thanks for that! I too get frustrated with Edmond and Mauller. I felt the same that Edmond looked so promising as a freshman (up a weight), and not to say that he won't turn it around, but wondering if the weight cut is the issue that's causing him to gas? Seems like he explodes at the beginning of the match and burns all of his gas. Mauller is as frustrating as they get. How many matches has he taken to OT because of the defensive mindset? To your point, if he would just shoot, he'd be one of the "leaders" that gets bonus when the team needs it.
