  1. After nine consecutive medals in the 97 slot for USA, either the measure for performing is being p4p #1 in the world, or this is such a horrible troll dish even a little cinnamon couldn't make good...
  2. Gomez? They’ve had some good battles, gotten chippy a couple times. Can’t remember if Gomez got him once though.
  3. Russia dictates their people’s lives. We don’t do that over here. We allow people to go out and earn whatever they set their mind to. Sometimes it means we don’t get our best against the world team. But I personally would never vote to change to a system where a handful of people decides a team, or even a slot.
  4. Sometimes they will enter two into a tournament (ranking series often these days) and whoever performs better in the tournament will get the spot.
  5. MFS was by far the most insane WC I’ve witnessed. I need some aspirin before Greco starts! Along with the runs turned in by Miccic and T-dov, so much craziness went down that were not even talking about the guy who couldn’t qualify to challenge for the team spot at 86 so he bumped and won a world medal 14 pounds up. Also noted ten Americans won medals with six in the finals and four gold. That RTC system is pumpin.
  6. The only thing I’ll counter is the idea that now Sadulaev will study him. He grew up under Sadulaev. Sadulaev’s coach coaches him as well.
  7. Bruce lost to Tom Erickson, albeit I believe just once but right in the middle of his run. Smith lost to Lewis and John Fisher. JB lost to Dake, Marstellar, and Nick Marabel.
  8. I take that back. I don’t think Boultakaev is a world medalist. But a roided up Boultakaev beat defending world and Olympic champs back to back that day.
  9. His only senior losses are to world medalists. JB, Smith, and Bruce all dropped matches to Americans….while in their primes.
  10. I’ll just say I’m not pulling wild guesses out of my ass, and I’m not even relying on the fact that there’s backdoor deals in international wrestling all the time, and I’ll leave it there.
  11. If you tied freestyle to schools and universities for the last 100 years, and Olympics was folkstyle, do you think folkstyle would still out attendance free? The more localized and tied to the community it gets, the more popular and attended it’s going to be. In this subject, the rules have nothing to do with it. Community and culture ties.
  12. Solid Anything about the rest of the information, or just the cool 125 vs 125.7 bit?
  13. Are you serious with the 125.7 argument? Anyway, the only two times he has 'made' 57 since Tokyo are the two times the world championships were in Serbia. Those just happen to be the only two medals he has in his career, which he just happened to wrestle 65 at the Europeans the same two seasons. And as an aside.....Serbia dominates the greco field last year.....after not sniffing anywhere near the top ten in any year the last two quads. I don't know....
  14. I'm going to take a beating here but oh well. 1) Bruce 2)Smith 3) Snyder 4) JB one of the two words in 'all-time' is 'time'. Bruce has as many olympic golds as anyone, and twice as many medals as john smith. I want to give more to JB for ten medals and competing in the minimal olympic weight/multi-ov era, but I can't put a guy with olympic gold and teched out of the olympics over three guys in two olympic finals and a hand full of gold medals. Yes one of Bruce's came in '84, but his longevity and medaling over and over and over again wins it for me. If Snyder wins Paris he jumps to 1 for me. Have to factor in Sadulaev. 5) David Taylor 6) Kyle Dake 7) Dave Schultz 8-Lee Kemp (I'm not making Lee pay for Carter's mistakes) 9)Kenny Monday 10) Chris Tayor.....come on, the guy medaled in FS, losing only to Medved on a call that got the ref dismissed from wrestling permanently...while also competing in Greco!!
  15. Tokyo....and the clock is still running
  16. He didn't really lose an opportunity to covid, they still had the olympics, and then the 21 worlds (his lone loss)
  17. There should be two mount rushmores, the Soviet era and the post soviet era. It is exponentially more difficult to win a medal/gold now.
  18. I’m looking at them, not who they’re wrestling. And they’re not looking as impressive to me.
  19. Anyone else not too impressed with either Akgul or Geno?
  20. Steak ‘n Shake man! Seriously for the rise in familiarity with the term ‘smash burger’…..simple marketing. With the rise in popularity in grilling, comes the rise in sales of grilling accessories. It’s not so much for the dads, as much as for those who need to buy dad gifts.
