  1. gotta respect an article by a princeton alum about how shocking it is to have a good ivy league wrestling team that literally doesn't mention cornell once
  2. i know; i was asking about the intent of OP, not the rule.
  3. A Cornell recruit from Virginia, Kingsley Menifee, shifted his commitment to Morgan State. Based on HS I don't think he'd have gotten much run at Cornell so I'm happy for him and hope he can succeed. UNLIKE ANY OF THE TURNCOATS WHO LEFT FOR STANFORD!
  4. what do you mean by "the first MFF"? an in-match injury default should definitely count as a loss. a match where the wrestler does not take the mat because of an injury sustained in an earlier match should not, even if they wrestled to the final whistle of that match.
  5. this is horrific. glad that he is recovering.
  6. Cornell trending up in the short term, though the loss of Yianni (and I'm still worried about Vito going OLY and not returning) are serious blows. Other than Shapiro the kids coming out of SCRTC next year look more like workout partners than competitive depth. Class of '23 looks very good but I expect them to grayshirt. The long term trend depends on who joins Jaxon Joy from the class of '24 when it's all on Mike Grey instead of residual Koll. Optimistic but idk.
  7. Vito - Glory match at NCAAs came down to who got awarded points in the scramble. Similar to the Zain-Yianni dispute at Final X, the viewer probably scores it with bias intact. For example, Vito and I were both STUNNED that Glory got the NF4.
  8. where did he transfer from? i thought he started at OSU? i don't remember his name but there was a guy who AA'd at Eastern Michigan, transferred to ODU then had to transfer again.
  9. No, I was saying he wrestled folk/college because it's what you do as an American - it's where the competition, attention and support system is. He chose Cornell to do it for whatever reasons anyone chooses anywhere.
  10. 141 Consi: Cornella was leading Swiderski 7-1 late and went for the major but ended up giving up a TD with 17 seconds left. Not a big deal, but Swiderski stood up suggesting he was releasing Cornella, Cornella didn't either belly out and let the ref call stalling or quickly scamper away, and when he slowly started standing, Swiderski dove back, head pinch, gator bacon, WBF with 12 seconds left.
  11. A little unfair to blame Facundo for Ramirez getting upset in the first round too. Vito went to Cornell (or any college) even though he doesn't particularly care about folk because, to paraphrase his own post-match press conference, it's what kids in America do and it's what audiences in America pay attention to. Succeeding in college wrestling is a way to promote yourself, especially in an NIL era. Not to mention that at some level wrestling is wrestling and the competition is high level so you learn from the competition. Plus he has nothing but praise for his college coaches.
  12. i wouldn't put a ton of stock in the latona/mcgee weekend. your record is what your record is, but the rumor is that he was still lethargic after recovering from illness and after looking sluggish against those guys, he skipped Cornell's duals the next two weekends.
  13. this is the most hilariously specific request you could make. Dad's porridge is too hot (8 mats), Mom's is too cold (1 mat) but baby bear's - if only someone would offer it! - is juuuuust right. That said... watch 4 mats by opening multiple browser windows.
  14. i doubt it but i guess it depends on the trials schedule
  15. man, i thought i was going to jump in here with this one and get all the glory but there it is on page 5
  16. my concern is that he's going to take a second olympic redshirt!
  17. yes he did grayshirt, and he also took an olympic redshirt in 2020 with yianni (and i think max dean) plus the ivies didn't compete for an extra covid year and i don't think he was enrolled. loew definitely has a year left and said he's returning. this was fernandes' second year of competition. i don't know how many credits he has towards graduation but i think he'd have two years of eligibility left.
  18. everyone but yianni (and furman, who i'll miss too) coming back, including loew and fernandes plus meyer shapiro. already can't wait for next year.
  19. haines has to have 3 years left, no? they only said "true freshman" 400 times tonight.
  20. why does any country draw particular lines? international relations prioritizing symbolism is nothing new.
  21. why would he need to leave stanford to wrestle as a grad student? stanford is a great school but it doesn't have to follow ivy league rules.
  22. This is a team move! I think it's called the Marinelli?* wild to think that lee - one of the best wrestlers of his generation - finished his high school and college careers with losses in what were supposed to be capstone events. * sorry hawkeyes i'm trying to delete it
  23. Front headlock killed Ramirez all match. Ramirez got the only takedown in the first, but Fish was working him hard. The rest of the match was all Sparty.
  24. are replays available anywhere? i thought they'd be on track but apparently not? they are on track but requires a specific subscription other than flopro.
