  1. And Alirez hates school, but he’s been putting in the work in the classroom every day
  2. AOC put together a very quiet buzzsaw of a season. I know he won’t win the Hodge, and that’s ok, but he decked dudes all year. His 2023 season was by far my favorite season of a UNC wrestler ever (I was too young to fully understand/enjoy what Jaworsky was doing). This season was better than his 149 title for me because he was up a weight and rebounding from a knee reconstruction.
  3. This is a really good point. I didn’t really think about it that way. We need someone to write a 10,000 page book about the psychology of wrestling. It has to be one of the most unique things in the world with all the levels of wrestling and things that go into greatness.
  4. Well everyone, I generally don’t post much and come here often after the college season ends. I wish all of you and your families health and happiness over the next 8 months and I’ll see you back in November. It’s always a pleasure to interact with everyone here.
  5. And next level self critiques. “What I just did right there won’t get it done on the international stage.” Always loved that mindset and he’s made comments like that a few times. He has a good hunger and outlook. Really hope we get to see the elusive Olympic gold medal around his neck one day.
  6. For a guy who plans to wrestle on the international stage… yeah you certainly don’t want to let that one fly.
  7. Parris. He wrecked everyone this year in a weight with some really good competition. Guy is an animal and had a hell of a year.
  8. I absolutely love Yianni’s mindset. Can’t wait to watch his career continue at the international stage.
  9. Wouldn’t have hurt to throw it, but our angle was bad. Yianni had both of Sasso’s legs. I don’t think it was close honestly.
  10. Credit to Yianni for trying to extend his lead and put on a show, just almost impossible to do against Sasso.
  11. Dake wasn’t feeling that interview. Quint finally got the hint lol
  12. Not that it would’ve mattered, but I can’t believe Alirez didn’t get another stalling in the 3rd… good win for him though and great for (other) UNC.
  13. What else could they be looking at? You guys see it. Make a freaking decision man.
  14. I’m a pretty superstitious person so there was no way I was posting this pre match and jinxing it, but I had a high level of confidence that AOC would beat Haines. It was nothing personal in the slightest to Haines, but AOC is just bigger, stronger, and better from all 3 positions. I sort of alluded to that in my post here above. Haines will have a great career, but I was feeling good when AOC got past Humphrey’s. I did find it interesting most of the board started skewing towards the Haines pick in the other thread. AOC was an absolute buzzsaw all year.
  15. Great interviews continue! Picking on pops mid interview may be another first.
  16. That’s about as raw of an interview as you’ll ever see. Really happy for Glory to be able to break through.
  17. Nino is weird in the best possible way. Guy does it differently. Really happy for him.
  18. I personally know a ton of guys that have wrestled and do wrestle for John Mark Bentley. They have a lotttttt of loyalty to him. He gives kids a chance when no one else would (Milner was a 1 time North Carolina state champion). Those kids would do just about anything for him. It’s why they don’t leave. I knew Austin Trotman well back in the day and was the first one that started that ball rolling.
  19. Btw, was Starocci talking about Usman? That’s even crazier to call out a guy like that on ESPN. I respect the cajones.
  20. Seemed to me like he’s setting himself up to try and advance quickly through the MMA ranks. But yeah, not every day you see the trash talk start after a wrestling national championship lol
  21. Well that’s not the cookie cutter, thankful interview we are used to Man said a D2 champ is lightweight where he comes from
  22. *whispers* I think Humphrey’s was the 2nd best 157. He physically matched O’Connor in the semis.
