  1. Thanks... does this mean they no longer require a .edu school email account to sign up?
  2. Gotta feel for the guy, it's really tough to be finished with the sport before you're ready to hang it up. Hopefully, being a student advisor and staying involved with wrestling will help scratch that itch...
  3. Would've been cool to see more already-qualified guys go at Senior Nationals to block a placewinner out of a spot. Spencer, Nico, and some others did and I like how it raises the stakes.
  4. Do you think Kawai is too small for the weight? For that matter, does Ozaki have the horsepower for 68? I am guessing she beat Kawai at 62 or 65. Did she beat Ishii up a weight?
  5. Rumor is that his hairdo isn't in tournament form yet.
  6. It's not annoying or bad business, it's retro! Remember long ago when ESPN and other tv networks would air wrestling on tape delay and cut to commercial mid-match?
  7. Suriano seems to be a big proponent of transferring. Maybe he's transferring to a different country's Olympic team.
  8. Ferraris don't walk up, they drive up.
  9. If Spencer didn't wrestle for Iowa, there would be even more seasons where the team had zero individual champions, possibly to an unforgivable extent to the fanbase. Brands' contract may not have been renewed last year if it wasn't for Lee. The program had 3(? Ramos, Clark DSJ) title winners over the past decade and Spencer alone doubled that number. Iowa Wrestling might look completely different today if it wasn't for him. Back to the topic, I thought Basset was leaning toward Ohio State?
  10. I'd like to see him compete, but would be a little surprised if he came back this season. Would he be doing it to fulfill an NIL deal or what? I thought he was keyed into staying injury-free and repping Mexico next summer.
  11. I feel like Mike Evans got a lot of hate during his time for face mushes (real or perceived), OOB shoves, and... his facial hair.
  12. Nahshon's stock was way up after his title interview and people learned about his tough upbringing. But that was before the political and antivax stuff.
  13. I loved Brute's kneepads back in the day and still have mine. Most wrestling kneepads are pretty good. Cliff Keen Impacts or Matman Aggressors might be what you're looking for to protect your kneecaps. I guess you could even pick up volleyball kneepads if you really want to prioritize impact protection over stability. They might also be easier to find at sporting goods stores and probably cheaper as I assume they are sold in pairs.
  14. Naw, no harm in tinkering with the lineup at this time of year
  15. How's he been looking against the bigger wrestlers?
  16. Pyles was a cross country guy, tried wrestling for the first time his senior year in hs. He is what he is, and sometimes his mouth is bigger than his brain, but I guess the sport needs that kind of person to stir up discussion and buzz. His cringiest comment though was in an interview a while back where he said something along the lines of, "I went to a D1 college [Old Dominion, RIP] and there was no way I would have been able to make the team, because I was so new to the sport. But knowing what I now know about wrestling, I think I could be a team" - lol, really?
  17. The free Covid season still messes me up. Feels like Kerk's been around for a while, and I didn't realize that last year was only his RS-soph season. When Kerk said he'd be taking his final year was there any indication that he meant 2025? Academically, he has to be close to graduating. I'm mostly wondering if he plans on finishing his college career when he graduates or if he'll use a grad transfer to give another program a try for his final season of eligibility.
  18. If Pyles is the bad boy of wrestling, what does that make Willie? Dr. Frankenstein? I thought he was the one who technically pulled for CP and got him hired at Flo.
  19. Maybe Brand finally realized that you don't have to come out guns blazing in December when you can get your reps in, focus on technique, and turn it up a notch or three in the postseason.
  20. Not an unusual career destination, but an interesting journey: NCAA finalist Kizhan Clarke had a nice run through the tournament (beat Eierman, forget who else) a couple of years ago while he was in Law School. IIRC after the match, Nick Lee's dad offered him a job at his law firm.
