  1. IIRC UW and UO are getting $30mil/year for the next 6 years from the B1G's media deal. Stanford and Cal's distribution will be around $7-10mil/year for the next 7 years from the ACC. That number might change for the better or worse though with all the drama going on with FSU and Clemson.
  2. 3. Most statues of themselves on campus
  3. USC is going to rake in over 100mil clams a year from the B1G with the new tv deal. Stanford was just desperate after the other Pac schools jumped ship and accepted a terrible offer, and now the non-revenue sports will have to live with the consequences. It also sucks for the ACC non-revenue sports that will have to travel to and from California.
  4. Stanford athletics (but mostly football and basketball) made their decision, yes.
  5. He has kind of a John Smith calm (away from the mat) vibe. In hindsight, Fix might've run right through the 125 bracket even with the weight cut
  6. Brutal. Didn't Stanford (and Cal) accept a 30% payout from the ACC for the first 7 years (then gradually stepping up to 100% by year 10) in their desperate attempt to join? I think the AD committed to not cutting any sports, so hopefully they can make the numbers work. Thankfully they have that phat endowment. It would be nice if Stanford could reaffiliate with the Pac for wrestling. It would save the ACC programs a little bit of money, too. WIn win.
  7. Just to rattle off some nice to see names: Ayala, Ramos, Crookham, Woods, Lovett, Ashnault, Deakin, Cenzo, IMar, Welsh, Beard, Moore, Davison
  8. I'd feel a lot better about Vito if 61kg was an Oly weight
  9. What odds would you give Haines against KOT at 165 or 174?
  10. I really don't though. I'm like the DC of the internet, drunk and spoutin off my opinions to anyone and no one who will listen
  11. The process of rebuilding the neural pathways to his leg is wild. Ryan said Sammy's been learning to wrestle with mostly one leg until the other one is rehabbed
  12. RBY wrestled as a true freshman and exhausted his eligibility. He made a big dramatic announcement his senior year about returning for a final season and wrestled a half ass schedule before lostng to Vito at NCAAs last year. For the current PSU seniors with eligibility left, NIL $$$ might tip the scales in favor of them staying. I'm under the impression that they make some decent coin, likely more than they'd make if they left. Barlett was in national ad campaigns for Gatorade and had a deal with a restaurant chain; Starocci and Brooks had a deal with a Healthcare network. And son on. Caitlin Clark has demonstrated the value of NIL sponsorships to companies and brands. She's making around $3mil (estimated) this season and may have opened the doors athletes outside of football & basketball to receive more or better likeness deals. If a wrestler could make just 2% of what she brings in, it would be well worth their while to extend eligibility.
  13. I think Iowa's in pretty good shape at 125 & 133 with the Ayalas. Dunno if Brands would recruit over them.
  14. So is Robbie Howard hitting the portal or what? Can he still wrestle?
  15. For wrestling the Pac-12 will still have WSU, Oregon State, CSUB, Cal Poly, and UALR - for now. ASU will have a new home in the Big12, but maybe Stanford will re-affiliate for wrestling? There was talk of the non-revenue sports staying out West to save on travel but I don't recall if it was Stanford/ACC. Cal Bap, AFA, NoCo, UVU would be a nice geographical fit if they wanted to reaffiliate with the "new" Pac. Saves the Big12 schools a little bit on treks out to and from the likes of CA, WV, ND.
  16. Cracks me up how he's so klunky and a goober, but murders everyone on the mat
  17. For a moment there MM forgot what sport he was in and went full Dikembe Mutombo on us
  18. I'm very happy for Carr, but what a travesty for MM's run to end on a mental lapse like that. The tides were clearly turning in the third period in favor of Mesenbrink and he took his foot off the pedal in the last 25 seconds or so. This match is an example of where Carl's hands-off approach doesn't work. He says he trusts his guys to do their thing without him having to constantly shout instructions from the corner, but the PSU coaches should've been jumping up and down, shouting, signaling, anything to MM that he needed to GO. It's sad, and it reminds me a little of J'Den Cox missing out on his chance for a gold medal in Rio because he didn't know he was losing by criteria.
  19. Has there been any interviews with him or the coaches? It looked like he was unaware that Carr had RT on him late in the 3rd period. Tragic freshman mistake if so.
