  1. It really is getting kinda silly, but you look at their upper weights and they have a bigger log-jam than they'd have at the light weights.
  2. Might be more fun, but the only way I see it realistically working...in the near term, is if Taylor takes the job at tOSU(which is not available) and Dake decides to be his Cunningham(which I have absolutely no reason to believe he would). One of the most popular Wrestlers coming home to one of the 2-3 more talent rich states in the Country and take over and already competitive program? That could be interesting.
  3. He's a stud...and he's a kid, but what the hell happened with him and Basset in the elite 8 duels? Looks like he lost his composure a bit. Shit, probably another guy who's going to be a future teammate in Beau.
  4. I get if you're part of the PSU collective, but that's not the only NIL money that an athlete can get. RBY got a deal with a Cliff Keen, he signed a VERY large deal with a MMA promoter who's signed several other PSU athletes. It's not like the PSU Collective is the only source of revenue for these guys.
  5. Grey/Red...they figure it out. And maybe Lilledahl wrestled 125, Gibson 133, Nagao 141. Whatever happens, I'm sure they'd figure it out. PSU is recruiting on another level right now. Just the amount of talent between 57-97 coming in... A LOT of these guys will very possibly end up AAs elsewhere.
  6. They almost always do. And this would be devastating for Stanford Wrestling. Edit- Probably a good idea to read through the thread before commenting. Now, OU potential candidates. Maybe a younger guy? Andrew Howe, both an alum and the type of guy I think could be a very good HC. I don't know what he's doing now, just that he lost his job because he refused to get the vaccine.
  7. Someone might want to educate us about him! What's the deal? You think he's got a chance to win a spot this year?
  8. I was under the impression the restriction were at the direction of the previous AD, Sandy Barbour and that Kraft has loosened the NIL restrictions significantly. Maybe they don't have as much as anyone, but I was under the impression they had significant support there where Wrestling was concerned. I don't find it surprising the PSU Basketball may lag behind, but are we sure that's about restrictions? Also, Penn State isn't a "State School," as I understand it. It's received money from the State, but it's not controlled by the state and isn't required to adhere to State restrictions. This is something I'd just learned as saying Penn State isn't a State School seems silly on it's face, but I think they call it a "State-related school."
  9. And Minnesota Fans will suddenly start continue to argue he's choking people on top!
  10. It seems great to me. Some little changes have been good. Clarifying a couple rules, the rules on the edge. Maybe call the ankle ride/hook a stalling. Place a bigger emphasis on stalling when you back out because you're in a bad position(Hidlay vs Soldano being an easy example). But that's it, Minor tweaks, not these wholesale changes. You're going to get so much less action if you add a pushout...and it's going to make the mat that much smaller. Make the offensive Wrestler score on that single up in the air, not just walk a guy straight out.
  11. For all the advantages Iowa had when Gable built them into a powerhouse, it feels like PSU has even more at this point. If his primary goal is to just be the best Wrestler possible, they've got so much talent at that RTC. If you want NIL money, PSU has as much as anyone(it would seem). In-state talent? With respect to Iowa(and every other state) it's pretty well established they have got the most talent. I really hope OSU and their class last year and then Davino and their other recruits can pan out, and Kueter wrestles(though I'm skeptical he does Wrestle more than a RS season) and that loaded Iowa class from this year can pan out and push PSU, but if they keep filling 'holes' on their roster with guys like this, the highest AA at a weight who's a Freshmen(or 2nd depending on Fix and what he does)...I don't see anyone catching them anytime soon. PSU needs a Clemson/Georgia/FSU to come along like they did to 'Bama to at least keep it interesting. As it stands now, Penn State looks like they're going to be better next year and their top rivals worse(save for maybe ISU and...IDK, Missouri).
  12. Burwick has had a bit of a shitty run of it, but Nebraska seems to be doing a good job developing Wrestlers. Maybe just STAY and try and win the spot? He is a good Wrestler and he was a VERY good recruit. He transferred last year because a Wrestler who was marginally better(at BEST) transferred in. Now he'd be transferring again for Brice? I hope he has success, but sticking it out might be the best thing for him long term. If he were at Wisconsin(assuming he did transfer because they brought in LaMont) he'd likely have 2 years left as the starter.
  13. I think he looked great...but I do think Teske would have a better chance going down to '25 and winning a spot than winning one at '33 and '41 is not an option. And he can't transfer again without losing a year...I believe.
  14. Does he go back to 125 and(edit) *try to win the spot there? He was a '25 until coming back to Iowa(even when Spencer wasn't Wrestling, but he'd probably prepared to Wrestle '33 by then). Teske vs Ayala?
  15. I feel like I've made my point over and over... If it's still not resonating, it's not gonna.
  16. My thought is this is genuinely willfull ignorance Who said anything about Wrestling with fear? We're talking about training, preparation, the running 6 miles after winning that you just claimed in YOUR opinion wasn't healthy... Ah, what's the point.
  17. Yeah...I'm tapping out here. This was in response to YOU suggesting people who feel that way don't want to be "seen as a loser." Quoting one line from an entire post removes all context and any attempt to have a reasonable discussion. Also, this is getting tiresome. You're either willfully or somehow accidentally missing the main points by going back and quoting single lines like this with no context.
  18. Maybe. I just think it could be an interesting match. That's all.
  19. It's not JUST the body types I'm looking at, it's the body types of another ELITE Wrestler. I thought Elam was the best '97 in that weight(things don't always work out that way, just my opinion). Also, I wasn't picking against Brooks(that'd seem silly at this point), but Loew isn't Elam. He's be wrestling a BIG '97 pounder who's VERY good on top, tough to finish on and just took a 3rd this year. Loew took an 8th at '84. I think Rocky Elam would present a much tougher challenge. Just saying it'd make for an interesting match. Certainly a fun one for the fans.
  20. It's mind blowing. They won the B1G Championships and beat THE FIELD 38-3. Cael is incredible...but not sure he's reached the level of dominance Gable reached juuuust yet.
  21. That'd make ASU pretty damn scary...and so long as you have ASU's full lineup(meaning no Oly for Schultz)...it could certainly be interesting. Rather seem Teemer at 157. Not sure if he's got the size for 165.
  22. I don't know, Brands is REALLY good at that collar lock! I really do root for a little more parity, but I'm not gonna lie, it'd be fun to see Nagao at 133, a healthy Howard at 125, Bartlett coming off his first real taste of success in College and Yr 2 of Van Ness, Haines, Facundo and then Brooks bumping up with Starocci, Truax, Brooks and Kerkvliet. Also...Truax has said he wants to go '84, right? Assad isn't going '97, right? That would seemingly make the decision easier. God knows he's got to be tired of finishing 4th(as impressive as that may be). It'd also be VERY interesting to see a Brooks-Elam match. The differences in builds could make that a tougher matchup for Brooks.
  23. Aside from the obvious, Escobedo is one helluva steal. I think he's got that Indiana program headed in the right direction. I wonder what Cael's actually paid. I remember the rumors he got a million when he was hired at PSU(I always suspected that was either a guarantee...like a 5 year deal, or included a house...something like that). Now it wouldn't completely shock me to see him paid that once you get to housing or bonuses. I suspect he'd want to ensure Cunningham was paid a salary commensurate with other well paid HCs so that may come out of his salary a bit, but seemingly worth it.
  24. I don't recall his reaction after the match, but to be clear, I believe what Lombardi is saying(And certainly the sentiment I'm expressing) is more about how you respond to failure. Does it push you to work harder, be better? Or do you accept it and just go about your business? I think you should always respect who you're Wresting...sometimes things get heated and that's not the case, but I'm speaking about how you respond to that loss. To that sinking feeling.
