  1. Would love for Omar to lose, but doesn’t seem likely. But last I checked Cori Bush and Jamal Bowman were likely to lose their Democratic primary races to more traditional moderates, so there is that.
  2. Think Scott can convince his wife to go to Hofstra?
  3. Do you guys think Brooks will now train in Stillwater?
  4. I can see you are assuming a lot in this discussion, doesn’t make it true.
  5. Well, one way to look at it would be how badly it hurt Israel’s ability to carry out their war aims when the World Central Kitchen workers were killed. Political pressure became enormous and they were prevented from going into Rafah. If they intentionally targeted hospitals/aid workers etc they would not have the support from the US they need.
  6. You can argue over details of whether this qualifies as a command center, but that misses the point. There is plenty of evidence of weapons stored in hospitals/schools, and fighters operating there. Why you want to find an excuse for that is beyond me.
  7. You are right, they used the hospital itself. https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2024/01/03/politics/us-al-shifa-intelligence-assessment https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/02/us/politics/gaza-hospital-hamas.html
  8. Man, they would have released him before trials.
  9. Ha, I laughed out loud at that one. Your take is spot on. Which makes it even more confusing to me why Biden doesn’t clearly pick a side. By not doing so this hurts him…in my humble opinion.
  10. I hear they are really supportive of open debate and have a really active LGBTQ student population that gets a lot of support from the administration over there. Those kids should have a smooth transition.
  11. You may be right, time will tell. Personally, I would not like to see my kids go to an Ivy League institution. But I’ve felt this way long before recent events. The obsession with where you get your internship, what dorm you live in, are you hired by a blue chip company, and translating those things to status is a huge turn off to me. With recent events and how the student body has acted at protests, clearly with very few having real knowledge of Israel and the Palestinians, and openly targeting Jewish students, I would actively discourage my kids from going. I’d rather they attend a solid state school.
  12. Define plenty. You do realize the protest organizers are putting these Jewish students front and center.
  13. @uncle bernard Putting aside the issue of where one stands on this conflict, do you think the nature of some the protests have crossed any sort of line? Examples would be visibly Jewish students walking to class being accosted/surrounded and chanted at? Reports of protesters chanting “kill the Jews”. Occupying campus buildings, which are clearly against university policy. Are their ground rules for how a protest should be conducted? And consequences when those rules broken?
  14. I think one piece you are missing is donations. Don’t you think a lot of these mega donors will continue pulling out?
  15. Even with our renewed success, I think we have very few guys that can throw or are all that comfortable in upper body or counter positions leading to back exposure. The Russians hit these moves like it’s part of their regular arsenal. This is also true of Par terre but to a lesser extent. A guy like Dake is the outlier, he is uncharacteristically complete in a technical sense for a US wrestler. To me this seems like the biggest weakness in the “American style”. A quick four point exposure can often be the match. When you think about it, it’s pretty incredible how successful we are while neglecting such an important aspect of freestyle.
  16. Not quite an answer to the original question, but for what it’s worth, Biden’s approach here probably hurts him. He is trying to straddle both sides. He doesn’t want to abandon Israel but he is also afraid of losing the young vote, which is pretty crucial to win as a Democrat. So he keeps making statements that are somewhat supportive and somewhat critical of both sides. This leaves everyone confused and uncertain. That’s not a great look for the leader of the free world. He needs to pick a horse and stick with it (preferably the winning horse) or I think it hurts him in November. American voters want a winner, not someone who’s noncommittal trying to avoid the obvious. Just my $0.02 if it’s worth even that much.
  17. Anyone know when the replay of session one is available?
