  1. For VA, Devin Carter is probably the best out of the state, but I could be overlooking someone from many years ago. Dude was a freak athlete and nearly pulled off the unthinkable of winning a natty title when he was sidelined with a season ending hamstring injury in January ( I think) Had it been anyone but Logic in the finals, pretty sure he’d have won
  2. He’s the best commentator in college wrestling!!
  3. The clash of the ACC foes commences Friday night and is must TV if you are a college wrestling fan. The pack has a raucous home crowd that’ll be entertaining
  4. As an avid VT fan and as much as it pains me to say, trent is the real deal and improved over last year. A finals appearance is highly likely and a win over Brooks wouldn’t be shocking at all with the way he’s wrecking people. He’s got a deep gas tank and breaks people in the third period, if the match makes it that long
  5. Cole is a classy wrestler. He’s always calm, cool and collected. I pull for him except against VT.
  6. There was a lot hype behind the kid and from what I seen, it’s true. Amine is a stud a Mess broke him very early in the match. If he wrestles every match like last might, he could be wrestling on Saturday night in March
  7. Brady reached his ceiling in high school. He has shown little development once in college
  8. That looked like a bad knee injury for BA
  9. As a VT fan, he’s the most nerve wracking but exciting wrestler to watch. He does things you are not supposed to do but generally pulls it off.
  10. Yes. He just wrestled a 2 day tourney at 141.
  11. Crook will likely go at 141 and Howard at 184. Crook is more than capable of getting the win. Personally, I think BA will either pin Mauller or lose by a MD.
  12. Rumor is Mocco didn’t weigh in. Sounds like the KOT vs Lewis match is likely to happen
  13. As a VT fan, this is one of my favorite duals. Both programs have great coaches and it’s reflected in their rosters. It’s always a tough but respectful dual
  14. AJ needed OT to beat a 20ish ranked guy (no offense intended to the Hawkeye). Based off the limited amount I seen of his match, he’d probably struggle to AA. Brooks, Hidlay and Beard would all torch him.
  15. When do the brackets get released?
  16. I haven’t seen any formal announcement from the team or chatter on the VT forum that Eddie is out for the year. But, I’d assume he’s done. The coaches wouldn’t have pulled coop’s oly shirt if Eddie was fairly healthy or performing well.
  17. I think it counts as second semester eligibility wise. He’s “enrolled” but the second semester hasn’t started
  18. Coop should jump into the rankings pretty quickly after today. Likely in the 15ish range until he gets more matches. Besides midlands, he catches Mizzou and Cornell early January so two more top 10 ranked guys.
  19. Coop is a dawg! Glad he’s getting the starting nod. I think his recent FS experience will prove valuable with the new 3 point takedown.
  20. If VT can get points at 125 and 165 in March, they will likely finish slightly higher. I’m very skeptical that’ll happen at 125 right now but think 165 will end up being okay. Who knows maybe Sasso ends up snagging the starting spot at 197 too. He’s not a giant slayer yet but he did knock off 3 ranked guys this weekend
  21. There’s not enough collegiate folk data on Shapiro yet to imply he’s unbeatable. If he keeps wrestling like this though, he’s gonna be tough for most guys to beat, but still beatable. The scary part is he’s a true freshman
  22. Not so much of a Shapiro weakness but BA was close to finishing a couple of those scrambles that he usually wins. BA just needs to keep doing BA things and I think he has a shot to get the W either in the dual or March.
