Every program Dresser touches improves immensely. He took a small high school in Grundy, VA (coal country) and turned it into a decade long state championship team. Then went to Christiansburg high school just outside of Blacksburg and turned into a nationally ranked program. Then took VT from a near last place team finish at NCAA’s to a trophy team. Now he’s got the cyclones clicking on all cylinders

If a taxpayer funded, public university has employees enriching student athletes, a disgruntled group could file suit claiming unfair treatment. I mean, why shouldn’t the left handed underwater basket weavers get nil deals at public universities? I’m being a smart but that’s how things snowball

I didn’t say that others couldn’t poach. The rub is, it looks like it’s mainly 3 schools, so most aren’t using this approach and instead are developing their room. That’s what coaches are supposed to do, not rely on 3rd parties to overinflate their programs output

It sounds like Michigan is going after a VT wrestler or two according to the hokie forum. I guess if true, this is the new model of team building going forward. It is a shame Michigan and others, focus more on spending $ recruiting proven wrestlers vs developing their own recruits.

This is an interesting question that will likely get answered soon if Hunter hits the portal. Hunter beat Jimmy 4-1 at a tourney late last year. The match was really close with Jimmy pushing the action and Hunter countered him for the W Jimmy’s ceiling is really high, but he’d develop better and sooner if he stuck with wrestling. Not sure that’ll happen since he’s on scholarship for FB Hunter is solid though and had a good tourney finishing in the blood round. My money is Jimmy earns the nod if Hunter stays

It wouldn’t be shocking if Dresser’s name gets added to the mix of possible replacements. What he’s done at both VT and ISU is remarkable. Plus he’s got hawkeye roots and generally dislike brands and would probably love to stick it to him
