  1. The idea is that if one team has to make weight on Friday and Saturday, and the other team only on Saturday, then allowing an extra pound on Saturday helps overcome the disadvantage of only one team having to make weight two days in a row.
  2. Pretty sure that applies to dual meets as well, in which one of the teams had a dual meet the previous day/night. To wit: *-indicates event is eligible for a one-pound weight allowance Friday, December 9: Pittsburgh at Brown, 6:30 PM Saturday, December 10: *Michigan State at Brown, 6:30 PM
  3. He's already wrestled 125 this year (November). What are you talking about?
  4. You can believe Minnow or you can believe Princeton wrestling. From their preview for the Rutgers match on Sunday:
  5. Going by some people's belief that Dean was gifted by the referees two matches in the tournament.
  6. Boy, Dean was totally gassed by the end. They were in neutral and he was pretty much staggering toward Beard trying to engage for a Hail Mary TD at the end. Anyone recall the last time a #1 and defending champion lost two matches in a row the next year, much less two in one weekend?
  7. Meyer Shapiro won the Clarion Open, the Bearcat Open, and the Mat Town Open I. 13-0 with 12 bonus victories (five pins).
  8. If you have a concussion, no toughness will get you just restarting. The medical staff was all over him in a flash.
  9. Injury time. He was clearly hurt. At least Cook got to wrestle more than one minute this time...
  10. I have no issues with Arena using Chrome in normal mode on my MacBook.
  11. Both rounds go at the same time, so equal rest.
  12. Flo also skips it on their schedule. So, starting at 1pm ET, they have semi-finals and consi round of 4. Then they have consi semi-finals. Then they have 5th/6th and 7th/8th place matches. Then they break until 6pm for the championship and 3rd/4th place matches.
  13. Are they just skipping the Consi Round of 4? I assume that round goes off with the semis, since the winners of the former will then wrestle the losers of the latter right after that.
  14. Second Cornell win over higher-ranked Buckeye.
  15. Everyone seems to be forgetting that a #4 seed lost to an unseeded guy...
  16. Heinselman with the 2nd period ride out, no score after 2. Ungar with the 4pt near fall and a ride out for 4-0 victory.
  17. Did you happen to notice that Flo, in their lightweight (in more ways than one!) preview, picked Cornella to win @ 141? Crazy talk. 141 Predictions: 1) Cornella 2) Jack 3) D’Emilio 4) Crook
  18. The point was that looking at the parents/genetics in this case would tell you nothing about the kids.
  19. Yianni Diakomihalis (oldest): 141 as a freshman Greg Diakomihalis (middle): 125 as a freshman Elijah Diakomihalis (youngest): 189 as a freshman...in high school
  20. FWIW, this is the wording used in a write-up about Cornell at the Lock Haven Open:
  21. Wrestlestat isn't hosed up, and his RS season was unspectacular (lots of non-D1 wins, best win was a 3-2 decision over a #45 from Chattanooga).
  22. I was there 40 (+) years ago, and we never called it Barton Hole. Ran track for four years there.
