can you think of any examples of a guy earning All American status after a first round loss? Taking an L and then winning at least 5 the hard way in the consolation bracket? I can't think of any but there has to be at least a few examples?

yeah he's def an impressive young man, and also you can totally see the Penn State official media training at work here the way he keeps hitting his prepared points over and over, "wrestle with heart," "not tied to winning or losing," etc. He was gonna give these answers regardless of the question. Reminds me of the scene in Bull Durham when Nuke finally makes the big leagues and he gives a million different variations of "I just want to help the team." Nothing against MM at all, he's obviously a great kid and wrestler, but I'll take a Thomas Gilman or Austin DeSanto on the mic everyday.

wow what an eloquent and insightful kid...he's 19? damn when I was that age I could barely articulate anything more complicated than "f*** you dad." Sounds like he's had a session or two with a sports psychologist. Not a PSU fan at all but it's impossible not to be impressed with this kid. Just one thing tho, did he forget to thank Jesus? well there went 6 hours in the middle of the day down the drain...holy hell that was interesting. Especially to see the wrestlers of the year and Dream Team members who fizzled out and didn't do anything in college. Also cool to see some names like Henry Cejudo on the list, surreal to think of some of these guys as high schoolers.
