  1. Negatives: hurts fan appeal in a major way. Maybe the only way to get guys to wrestle more would be to have number of matches be part of the seeding criteria. I know some top states have done this in high school.
  2. Would a true "alpha male" have a poll as to what he should do next? Or would he just do it?
  3. As a D2 wrestler who wrestled against UPJ during Haselrig's era, I never heard a thing about him being the reason the rule was changed. I even had a training partner who was one of the last D2 guys to qualify. I could 100% be wrong, but I generally feel as if this claim is somewhat revisionist history.
  4. Part of the problem was that in many of those years, we didn't even bother sending a team. Askren talks about winning an age-group team trials and then USA didn't even send the team.
  5. I think 4th in Olympic Trials prior to playing in the NFL.
  6. OK thanks. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Ithaca is going to get off the schnide anytime soon!
  7. Is this D1 or for any division? I say this, because some of those schools have had champs in lower divisions.
  8. Kevin Jackson. Thomas Gilman. Tervel Dlagnev. Zeke Jones. More...
  9. I would like to see the seeding formula contain some sort of incentive for "number of matches wrestled." PSU certainly has a winning formula, but it is not great for promoting the sport. Our best guys need to be out there more than 15 times a year and putting it on the line. PSU non-conference schedule is also amongst the weakest I have ever seen for a team that should have a dominant national title run. Yes, their formula is working, but does it promote the sport in the long term?
  10. Funny... I thought someone brought up international results. So four years of college undefeated?
  11. Didn't Uetake lose in veterans worlds?
  12. He has two degrees from Stanford, so I imagine that this would be his second masters.
  13. I'm sure he's being well compensated in NIL and adding Michigan alums to his already impressive network of Stanford alums.
  14. I don't think so, but they will begin to rapidly disappear after this.
  15. For perspective, I was a 5th year and was 22 years old at my NCAA regional. A lot of this is holding kids back/reclassifying (before college) added to the Covid year. Now we also have ORS, greyshirts, and Injury redshirts being handed out like candy on Halloween.
  16. Michael DeAugustino 24 Austin Gomez 25 (will be 26 at NCAA) Cam Amine 23 Chris Cannon soon to be 23, will be 24 at next years NCAA Shane Griffith will be 25 at NCAA Lucas Davison 23 Lou DePrez 25 Mekhi Lewis 24 Trent Hidlay 25?
