  1. Same high school and high school coach, too. (John Messenbrink)
  2. I know the family of one of the pretty good "Caels." I may have thought it was a little silly initially, but he's done well for himself, and it isn't exactly unique anymore.
  3. Most popular male name on earth is "Muhammad" or one of the many transliterations.
  4. Hall's international results (where he had no age advantage) coming into college were equal to Lee's and better than Snyder's.
  5. A bit off topic, but your post kinda brings it up... Mark Hall was supposed to be in that top tier of dominance coming out of high school if I remember.
  6. Is there anyone else here think that Messenbrink gets the better of Levi Haines, allowing him to go 165 (despite being certified at 157)? A tough weight cut could explain why Haines (although #1) has not quite met expectations of dominance this year, and perhaps the staff thinks MM can challenge at 165 more readily than Mrs. Haines son?
  7. I was wondering about the weight allowance. If true, that does not bode well for Roman despite his Treigning Lab pseudo science and/or supplementation program.
  8. I think this match will go very, very badly for Hamiti. 6+ point loss, unless he decides not to wrestle.
  9. Well, I'm pretty sure he lost to Gabe Tagg in FS in college, so definitely not first since high school.
  10. I think she mostly did football sideline stuff, but after Dave was murdered she was available and her employer sent her to interview Mark.
  11. Actually Mark Schultz, after the murder of Dave.
  12. I've never had a wrestler sit next to me on a flight, but I have had an ESPN female sideline reporter sit next to me! She was very pleasant, asked me where I was coming from and when I said the OTC, she was able to intelligently talk about one of our past stars whom she had interviewed for a piece. It was pretty cool, especially when I would later see her on the sidelines of football games.
  13. Oh, I am quite aware. Another poster claimed that Roman told him that this was his first time wrestling freestyle.
  14. Roman needs as many freestyle reps as he can possibly get. He allegedly claims that he never wrestled freestyle until a few weeks ago. I also wouldn't expect to see Suriano, as coach cal put him through a tough med ball workout the other day.
  15. Maybe, but undeniable that not everyone is putting out their best lineup if they know they can win without it. This doesn't happen in BCS football. Also: Cornell, Michigan, and Arizona State are three top ten teams (or should be.) This makes it extra disturbing.
  16. Not really quickly, but has been increasingly happening over several years. Coaches are holding guys out of duals for selfish reason, which I understand to an extent as a former coach. However: for the sport to survive and thrive, a lot of these guys should make the long trip, the extra weight cut or wrestle with an ouchie or two. I would hazard a guess that many of our better publicized "ducks" are guys that would be playing in an NCAA football game on Saturday if they had the same booboo or case of sniffles. There's just no tangible incentive to do so right now. Thus we are increasingly headed to a land where duals matter less and less and all that matters is one weekend in March.
  17. I saw him throw a chair once. People who like to trash Iowa pretend that has never happened.
  18. I saw an old formula the other day. I'm not sure if it is still used, but it was from OH or PA, I think. I really don't remember, but it made me think. I'll look for it again.
