  1. 57 kg - Vito A 65 Kg - Yianni 74 kg - Dake 86 Kg - DT 97 kg Snyder 125 kg - Gable If USAW is still offering the same award from the Living the Dream fund that they offered to JB in 2016 (and I think for Snyder in 2020) then a Gold in Paris could earn Gable $500K - the same would apply to Taylor - That is 10 Xs the amount Gable could have earned at this years WC. I think he is going.
  2. I am guessing you are kidding on your height projections - Someone with Dake's build would be abour 6'4" to weigh in at 213. If you want to scale up weight you need to cube the ratio of the heights to project mass.
  3. Tony Cass weighed in at 252 lbs. for the Big 10s as reported on track wrestling. I doubt he ever got below the mid 240s last season. That is still a lot less than he weighed in previous years.
  4. This is hardly fair - Tazhudinov is obviously physical but he beat both Kyle and AS with excellent technique and movement. He is 20 years old and just coming into his own - similar to B Satiev in the 1995 WCs. Boltakaev had been around quite a while and had made a sudden unexplainable leap in ability that was more physical than technique based - more akin to Ben Johnson than Buviar Satiev.
  5. The main thing he did prior to winning this WC is win the 2023 Asian Games in April - he beat Goljei of Iran in the SF which is notable - I went back and watched his SF & Final matches from that tournament and it looks like he has improved a lot in the last 6 months.
  6. Lee has a reasonably good draw considering that he should be able to win his first 3 matches without beating one of the top 10 wrestlers in the bracket. On the down side the top half of the bracket is much tougher and he will probably hit Iran's defending WC in the quarters. The lower part of his side of the bracket is the strongest 1/4 - it includes Otoguro, thre Russian, Musakaev and the Kirgizstan guy.
  7. Carr is done this year but O'Toole has two more years if he wants to use the extra one.
  8. None of the Cornell (or other Ivy) wrestlers are going to "get a free Covid year" - To get the extra year to participate you actually had to wrestle in the 2021 season. That is the year that would not count against your eligibility. As no Ivy wrestlers competed that year they will not be getting a 5th year of competition anywhere.
  9. Unfortunately it seems that almost everyone has transfer potential now a days
  10. Never mind - I see he is part of Bono's incoming recruiting class for Wisconsin - I think he has a lot of potential.
  11. Does anyone know where Julian George is wrestling in college ? - he just had a nice jr world tournament where he made the semi finals against Meyer Shapiro - thanks for any info
  12. You are correct about what happened - Most of the time the ref will stop the action and issue a warning to the offending wrestler prior to calling the penalty point. The ref did not issue a warning nor did he call the fleeing. I can't believe they did that on a challenge. Young Miss Janiak does bear some of the fault in that she stopped wrestling to score one minute before the match was over - she gave up 2 TDs in the last 25 seconds while she was in killing time mode. I hope she learns from that. That being said the call was still horrible.
  13. Gwiz iwould be a good bet - If he doesn't qualify as an AC I might pick Varner - he probably trains with Kerk & Snyder still.
  14. Thanks that is good - Flo has brackets up and there was no USA guy shown in those 2 brackets - glad to hear they are all set
  15. Does anyone know what happened with Ben Davino 60kg and Brock Mantanona 65kg? - the brackets are out on Flo and neither one of them are shown in the brackets.
  16. Vito starts his tournament with Abakarov from Albania - the 57 kg World Champ who beat Gilman last year - should be interesting.
  17. All of the military academies have prep schools they often send incoming freshman to for a year. For the Naval academy it is NAPS located in Newport RI. I think they send a lot of incoming kids there to see if the military life is a good fit for them - it seems a lot of athletes go that route. Once you start at the academy you are right it is usually 4 and done. On the good note for the recruits I believe the clock starts for their service as soon as the enter the prep school.
  18. I'll bet that changes next year with PSU getting 2 in 1 year.
  19. Dake is obviously a "Vet" (already corrected above) and I would think having an Olympic Gold under your belt where you beat 2 multi time world/olympic Champs would qualify you as a "vet". So We have Zain, Dake, Taylor, Snyder and Gable who all have had significant success on the World/Olympic level. Add to that Richards, Lee & Chance all took out people with World medals and Vito beat the guy who took out silver medalist Fix and I would say the team is looking good. Zahid also looked really good against some pretty tough 92kg guys. I think this team will do really well in Belgrade.
  20. Vito has 1 year left - he does not get an extra year as he did not compete in the 2021 season. This will be his 4th and final year competing for Cornell. Hardy has 3 years left. Carlson has 1 year left. Parco has 2 years left. Alirez has 1 year left. Matthews has 1 year left.
  21. That is probably true as long as Nagao stays at 133. With his build I could see him out growing 133 - time will tell.
  22. Aside from Robbie Howard PSU is stockpiling a great deal of talent that could be at 125/133 over the next few years (it is tough to project exactly which weight these High school kids will be) Steen is already in the room, Nasdeo and Davis arrive this year and Lilledahl and his teammate M Gibson the following year. With McHenry added to that mix I expect a high level guy will emerge for both of the 1st 2 weights
  23. I would hope that Chandler Rogers would be the starter at 184 and that he will be pretty competitive as a RS Frosh.
  24. I agree with you that Zare is a great young heavyweight and could rack up a lot of World level medals if he gets the chance. However I think there is good chance he gets overtaken by an even younger Iranian prodigy Vala Masoumi (19 I think) - Not only is he huge and athletic but he is already competitive with some of the best in the world. He had the Mongolian WSM beat hands down in the Asian semis before allowing an inside trip with a few seconds left that cost him the match. I think this kid overtakes Zare by 2024. We will see. You are also right that it isn't reasonable to consider Mason on par with Zare considering everything Zare has accomplished on the senior level since the 2019 loss. They are both different wrestlers today and Mason will have to prove himself on the mat. Hopefully he will be attending many open tournaments and get a shot at him. I am very much looking forward to seeing what Gable can do against the field - I think he may dominate more completely than he did at the Olympics.
