  1. 18 match points? Still photos can’t tell you if someone was pinned or not (or getting nearfall for that matter)
  2. 4. Haines has a loss this year, so Cael’s 159-0 remains unbroken
  3. Got ya. I thought you were saying if Haines goes it’s not a tossup but if Bearclaw goes then it is.
  4. If you're assuming Bearclaw at 157, I think Siebrecht is the favorite (but wouldn't be shocked to see Bearclaw beat him).
  5. At first I thought they said the wrong guy’s name or something. But even after seeing the score for several more minutes they didn’t realize until the match ended. The only reasonable thing I can think of is maybe they thought he was awarded a reversal first? But I think it was 1-0 DeAugustino and they thought it went to 5-1 Renteria, so unless they still think there’s a 3 point nearfall their math would still be off.
  6. I would say don’t tie up. Rivera’s strategy of maintaining space seemed to work well. Not sure of bottom strategy. Probably try to get up off the whistle, don’t be afraid to get a couple cautions
  7. Who does BTN use for their rankings? IIRC he did not have one during the Wisconsin match
  8. Is Siebrecht not even ranked by Flo? It didn’t seem like it during the Wisconsin match. Haines should definitely be favored, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see Siebrecht win. But Haines also seems like someone with good positioning that wouldn’t typically get tripped up by the funk.
  9. The same call would also typically be made at the end of a period
  10. Hillger did lose to Lewis Fernandes at NCAA's last year and beat him this year. That looks to be the only result that's flipped from last year.
  11. Pyles' buddy Andy Smith was the one that sealed it for VT with the upset over Trumble
  12. What do you mean? "Loss of control" is a pretty standard call
  13. That counter by Trombley against Ventresca in SV was insane. Ben Askren would've loved the stall call against Ryan Jack. Called for "regular stalling" because he was trying to manipulate the 5 count rule.
  14. So Iowa isn't a "real threat for the title" anymore?
  15. Yes. IIRC they did show some replays, but looks like that was not one of the matches BTN included on Youtube
  16. Maybe doesn’t meet the definition of “great,” but Delgarbino over Cassioppi probably deserves a mention
  17. I don’t see why they overturned the loss of control in the 3rd…
  18. That’s what I thought. So while I’m he’s smaller than the guys cutting a lot, I would bet he’s at least weighing in right around 125, maybe even cutting a couple pounds
  19. More Jimmy trying to get people to underestimate PSU…
  20. And clearly the announcers don’t understand how scoring works either…
  21. Here is the BTN video. Sequence is at about 33:15. It’s awfully close, and then there’s a second or 2 where the video isn’t at a good angle. But I think 9/10 refs aren’t going to make that call unless it’s super obvious. DeAugustino did seem to realize his position and was rolling around. Side note, but Illinois really screwed up by choosing bottom in the 3rd there, unless they didn’t care about the dual result and just wanted Renteria to get exposure to trying to get out from DeAugustino. It had been 5 minutes and DeAugustino couldn’t take him down, and you know he’s pretty tough on top (and probably the biggest 125 other than Glory). Then the final mistake was Renteria trying to go upper body in the last 30 seconds (edit: although I guess that was because he was trying to win the individual match). Side note #2 - that was probably the most action I’ve ever seen from DeAugustino in neutral, presumably because he knew he needed the major. He’s usually incredibly boring in all the matches I’ve seen of his.
  22. What weight did Steen wrestle as a HS senior?
