  1. I expect Facundo to hit his stride soon and just had some bad mojo at NCAA's this year. Every program will have some boneheaded fans who are overly critical of wrestling below seed and early expectations.
  2. Do not know how you watch that video and think Labriola was joking - seems like a heartfelt comment on his gratitude for his coaches. Something special in many wrestler-coach relationships and it is nice to see that expressed. I am not much a fan of sticking a mic in front of wrestlers in the first few seconds they get off the mat, but this one seemed to work.
  3. If Yianni and Vito transferred, I doubt we would have had the Covid deaths and long covid and they probably would hve been undefeated this year and likely would have split the '23 Hodge. Think about it. Quite a price to pay. I hope it was worth it.
  4. Looked at the on-line roster and all of those guys are listed as seniors for Penn so I assume out of eligibility. Might be some recruits from before '23 that will be entering the lineup for Penn that were not rostered this year. Cosgrove was a '22 recruit and I wonder if he might be ready for action next year. Some other too?
  5. cement mixer at NCAA's GOAT - Rob Rohn mat return to back w lomg/arm short arm move GOAT - Matt Valenti Half from the knees - Mean Gene
  6. Pretty good talent. Probably short of beating Cornell. Would like to see insiders with an early guess of Penn, Princeton, and Columbia. I expect these might be the top 5 in the EIWA next year although I do not know the Navy and Army teams and pipelines very well. Harder to keep track of who might have another year left, but at Penn I think Zapf and Goldin are out of eligibility and not sure about Aratalona? Penn has some interesting recent recruits - a lot of state champs (OH, NJ, NY and a high PA placewinner) who may be ready to step in? CJ Composto returns I'd guess at 141 or 149 but will be interested to see. Someobody must know something?
  7. I could not watch it either - but no surprise that there are some tight calls. Yianni is a guy whose style flirts with danger, but I guess not as much as Spencer Lee.
  8. This guy Chael is about as sharp as a bowling ball.
  9. Nick Lee = 2x Champ and 5x All-American. Is he still carrying water and chopping wood? Nick belongs on the list too.
  10. Glory Vito Cornell(a) Yianni Artalona Monday Foca Brooks Cardenas Slavikouski Without Brooks, looks like the First Team Ivy lineup! NCAA conspiracy at 184 to avoid Ivy sweep of NCAA's?
  11. RBY said about the same thing before so Wrestle-Gods might appreciate his candor!
  12. Jimmy C at his best during March wrestle-madness!
  13. hurtful - guys can develop in a room like that and a year or two of maturity and weight training can be impactful
  14. Anyone who understands the sport will acknowledge that prior NCAA titles is a highly relevant fact as to tournment performance in later years. The only current season assumptions may be in the formula, but it is a deeply flawed assumption.
  15. One of the flaws in th seeding system is insufficient love for returning champs and even returning finalists - nuttery that this is not any consideration.
  16. Not sure of Brooks really cares about his draw, but probably would have taken a few more matches if he knew. Hilday and then PK is not easy, but I think he handles it.
  17. I think it would. Beating Fix and then RBY would be something.
  18. Glory could have struggles with weight management and injury recovery - any word from Princeton? Do not think Yianni or Vito are too worried, but the Penn #2 seeds are capable and will have a strategy on home mats. Beard might be the least worried #1 seed. O'Malley has a really tough path at EIWA's w this seeding. Conigliaro in quarters, Foca in the semis, and if he makes the finals could be Incontrera or Pasiuk. All of these guys have a shot at round of 12 and would expect at least a few AA's. A lot of parity at 141 and expect it to be a wild bracket. Hines is dangerous - suprising the number of losses he has. Have not seen Griess at 285, but 30 wins is impressive. I wonder if Goldin has a shot at the #3 seed at 285 and wonder if he even wants it? 165 - #2 seed may be right, but I am not betting against Monday.
  19. I think if they wrestled 5, it would be 3-2. Like Sasso v Yianni, would love to see it but probably will not.
  20. Intermat has elevated me to a state qualifier - my crowing achievement! I did not get close to that back in the day!
  21. I won a jv tournament my first year (!), but downhill after that. If I was smarter I probably would have left the shoes on the mat a little earlier - but was fun to watch some very talented wrestlers and interesting personalities on my teams.
  22. In an imagined world where I am chasing my third NCAA title as a Junior, I might strain to stay within the boundaries of humility in the heat of battle.
