  1. Let's play it out: 125 Lee still wins 133 RBY still wins 141 ? 149 ? 157 ? 165 ? 174 Starocci still wins 184 Brooks still wins 197 Dean still wins HWT Kerk still wins So basically same result at 6/10 weights with 4 unknowns at 141-165, since I don't know how those guys do at freestyle. Iowa has to win 4/4 to tie it up. I don't think they would do that.
  2. Who got a riding time point last night with no backs? 141 Woods 149 Murin 174 Starocci 197 Dean HWT Kerk
  3. I'm kinda surprised by this. I get Spencer Lee thinks folkstyle sucks but I don't think the Hawkeye Wrestling Club is producing many freestyle prospects, at least for men. I even wonder how Lee will do in freestyle after he graduates due to the wear and tear on his body. Do Hawkeye fans really think their team would do better if folkstyle was replaced by freestyle at the college level? Would Iowa have won last night if it were competed as a freestyle match?
  4. Again, how many did they have if you take out Brooks’? Vespa 1 Rby 2 Haines 1 Kerk 1
  5. It’s a boring venue. Rec hall is better.
  6. Aside from Aaron Brooks wrestling a backup 165 pounder how many did PSU have? 3?
  7. Iowa fans, isn’t the ankle ride employed by beloved Hawkeye 141 pounder Real Woods the same Penn State stall ride that Iowa fans abhor and condemn?
  8. Marco Vespa almost put Lee on his back. Marco freakin Vespa.
  9. Even though they lost the dual I think Iowa showed well and should be happy. 1. Spencer is gonna dominate his way to #4. 2. Woods looks like a finalist again. 3. Murin looks like a high AA. 4. Siebrecht looks like a AA contender if Haines is one. 5. Kennedy was never in danger vs #5 Facundo. Kennedy will AA. 6. Brands was right there with Starocci. 7. PSU showed they are pretty overrated with Barlett and Van Ness. I will be stunned if either of them AAs in March.
  10. I think he made the right decision. He's gonna make like $150mm in his career playing football. Even a GOAT like Spencer Lee would be lucky to make $150k in his career wrestling.
  11. Put aside the matches that were just mismatches at 125 and 184 and the difference of this dual was just smart wrestling vs dumb wrestling! Smart wrestlers tonight: - Woods 141 (used his length perfectly to completely shut down Bartlett) - Murin 149 (great defense and riding) - Haines 157 (avoided the Siebrecht funk) - Kennedy 165 (perfectly countered Facundo's wide open style with the underhook) - Dean 197 (took the advantage on top where he knew Warner has PTSD) - Kerk HWT (didn't gas himself out) Dumb wrestlers tonight: - 133 Teske (wrestled well until the last 15 seconds of the match, takes a crappy shot and gets pinned) - 174 Brands (for getting indignant about Starocci running for the last 15 seconds of a match in which Brands didn't attempt a TD for the first 6:45) The funny thing is if Assad goes at 184 Iowa probably has a real chance to win the dual
  12. He was literally hanging on for dear life when Dean went for the bow and arrow
  13. I think Warner has PTSD from Deans bow and arrow
  14. Kennedy is a tough grinder. Facundo is more finesse and needs to operate from space. Kennedys style is the perfect counter for a guy like Facundo
  15. Lol at Brands getting all indignant about Starocci dancing for the last 15 seconds of the match when he didn’t try to score a TD for the first 6:45
  16. Why didn’t Brands try to score a td in the first 6:50 seconds of the match?
  17. Called Kennedy over Facundo. Just a bad matchup for Facundo.
  18. 157 is a pretty deep weight. Haines has some real skill but he’s a freshman. I will be happy if he makes AA this year.
  19. Sad that Parsons and Spencer Lee were once buddies and Parsons is gonna make like $100mm more than Lee
