  1. Reasonable picks for Penn State's "other guys" Steen - Doesn't qualify. Best case, he qualifies by making a miracle run at Big 10s. Bartlett - 4th-6th place. Best case he makes the finals but takes 2nd. SVN - R12 I agree with. Just not enough offense and can be ridden. Best case 7th or 8th. Haines - 2nd-4th. Dream scenario he wins it all. Facundo - 7th-8th. More offense than SVN but in a much deeper weight. Best case 5th or 6th.
  2. No, but that was an extremely low percentage move that basically resulted in him throwing himself to his back. Yes, Lee still wins by pin or fall 99.9% of the time but if you were picking the best possible move in that situation, well...
  3. Is Witcraft remotely comparable to those two?
  4. Lee Fix Woods Yianni AOC O'Toole Starocci Brooks Beard Parris
  5. That was a really stupid move by Witcraft. That might have worked if he were wrestling someone 30 pounds lighter.
  6. Looks like he's reading his own press clippings...
  7. A 9-5 win over an unranked Ty Bagoly from Clarion. Dean was taken down twice and ridden out to finish the match in the 3rd. I was kind of surprised by this lackluster performance to end his Penn State career at Rec Hall. Is Bagoly actually pretty good (don't think so based on him being unranked) or is something up with Dean? I can't imagine he was pleased with his performance.
  8. Carr dominated. O'Toole has some weird ass pit hair.
  9. I was a bad wrestler myself. Starter (by default) for a season where I went winless. 2 other seasons primarily as JV where I was probably a .500 wrestler.
  10. By the way, I did not invent the "I enjoyed the ____ era" meme. But you already knew that.
  11. Minimum qualification is to have wrestled at least 1 season in middle school or high school. Anyone go 0-fer in their career? Anyone get pinned every match?
  12. Haines has the best shot assuming the new generation only includes SVN, Haines and Facundo. If we're expanding the universe to any PSU guy who hasn't won a championship yet I'd say Kerk has the best shot at it.
  13. No way. 1st time champ with when you have multiple 4x champs and multiple 3x champs....is not getting the Hodge unless he pins his way through NCAAs.
  14. There are only 2 real locks: Spencer and Yianni.
  15. When's the last time you heard a Penn State wrestler talk about having fun? I just realized I don't think we've heard mention of fun and dodgeball in a few years now. Has fun died at Penn State?
  16. That is possible, although I feel like that's close to a worst case scenario, barring injuries. If that happened + Iowa gets champs with Spencer, Woods and Cass, and AA from Teske, Murin, Siebrecht and Kennedy I think they would take 1st.
  17. As a dedicated Penn State fan I am very in tune with the Nittany Lions. Here are my official PRE-BIG 10 predictions for NCAAs. My predictions likely will change after BIG 10s. 125 - Steen/Vespa. DNQ. The Curse of Suriano continues for Penn State for the foreseeable future. It may take another Bo to break it. 133 - RBY, champ. He takes out Fix for the third time in the finals. He's looking healthy, almost bored. Even a prime Desanto could not stop him now. 141 - Bartlett, 5th place. Hard to believe he only has one loss, but his lack of offensive production will cost him against guys like Woods and Sasso. 149 - SVN, 7th place. I am more positive on SVN as of late. He still can struggle on bottom with elite guys and I find his offense still to be a little too straight on. Low AA seems like best case scenario for him. 157 - Haines, 3rd. Haines is looking great but I think he can't beat the 5th and 6th year seniors like AOC who are just too strong and experienced. I think he is a multiple time NCAA champ in his young career though. 165 - Facundo, 5th. I think he's better than Barlett but 165 is just a minefield. I think he will benefit from another year of strength and development. I see him as a 2x champ. 174 - Starocci, 1st. It won't be pretty but I don't see anyone at 174 taking him out. 184 - Brooks, 2nd. Probably my most controversial pick. I think Hidlay takes him out in the finals. 197 - Dean, 2nd. In a shock, Warner bests him in the finals and gets sweet, sweet revenge. HWT - Kerk, 1st. I think he figures out his pacing and takes out Parris in the finals with a smart, controlled match. Penn State wins the team title going away. Iowa takes 2nd.
