Hutmacher was huge but had zero gas tank. Unless he improves that significantly I don't see him as a AA threat.
Kueter only weighed in at 220 pounds. I doubt he'll be able to add much good weight while he gets into wrestling shape. Maybe he can be the next Anthony Cassar?
Meaning if you could hypothetically equalize all of their wrestlers to the same weight, who would be the best?
Obvious choices are Starocci and Brooks, but maybe Messenbrink is the best of the bunch?
No AJ means no Angelo and no Anthony...might this result in Iowa not finishing in the top 3 in the team race the next few years? It's a dark day in Hawkeye nation.
Hot take, but putting aside the ability to win a NCAA team title, is Cornell actually the best college for elite wrestlers over Penn State or Iowa?
In favor of Cornell:
Elite Ivy league education and alumni network
Ability to develop individual champs equal to Penn State
Better ability to develop 4x NCAA champs (Cornell has 2 in Dake and Yianni, Penn State has 0 so far)
Better international/FS development than Iowa
Against Cornell:
Fewer team titles than Penn State and Iowa
Weaker international/FS development than Penn State
Hmm, this didn't really reveal much. Dodgeball, drilling, conditioning...
If anything it just shows the effects of having such a stacked room with dozens of NCAA titles, World and Olympic medalists, MMA stars...
Seems crazy to say the #2 ranked 184 pounder going into last night is a weak link but he was the only Penn State wrestler to lose and he showed very little offense in the match. From 157-HWT you have guys who have a very good shot of making the NCAA finals and Truax is bookended by two potential 4x champs in Starroci and Brooks, but watching him wrestle he doesn't look very much like the other Penn State studs. Very limited offense from neutral, not much of a rider too. I know he's been very consistent at NCAAs but just wondering what's going on with him.
