  1. Technically yes, but how many matches did he actually wrestle in another college's singlet? Answer: 0
  2. Ah yes, it was Gamblin' Nelson Brands. My bad.
  3. In last nights Penn-State Michigan dual Mitchell Mesenbrink had a crossface on Cam Amine when he suddenly winced in pain, pulled out his arm and showed the ref what seemed to be toothmarks. It was clear Mesenbrink was accusing Amine of biting him. Now that I think about it didn't Aaron Brooks get bitten by another Amine a few years back? Or was it Zain Retherford versus Malik Amine? Anyway, the Bitin' Amines sounds like a great band name.
  4. This is a fair assessment. Nagao still struggles finishing in neutral and relies too much on scrambling to finish. Truax still only has 1 shot.
  5. I'd be happy there's any reporting on wrestling at all.
  6. He admitted not wrestling was a last minute decision and he was ready to go and not injured or sick. What gives?
  7. Looks like I was right on the button with this one....
  8. Coming into this season it looked like Penn State's weak spots would be at 125 and 149 (once SVN got injured). However, halfway through the season it's surprising to see that the wrestlers with the most losses are actually 2 of Penn State's primo transfers in Nagao and Truax. Now I think both of these guys still will AA in March, but Penn State is showing that less heralded or proven homegrown talent (e.g. 14 year old Braeden Davis at 125, 141 pounder Tyler Kasak wrestling at 149, even Josh Barr are more than holding their own). Now Mesenbrink is obviously tearing it up but it looks like 2/3 transfers are not really living up to the hype so far. Michgan has 5 super high profile transfers in their lineup (Deaugstino, Cannon, Gomez, Griffith and Davison) and their team is looking like it won't contend at Big 10s or NCCAs. Perhaps teams need to focus more on homegrown talent rather than bringing in warworn mercenaries.
  9. Can Braeden Davis even grow peach fuzz at this point? If someone should get another 9 years of eligibility it should be Davis since he's clearly a 13 year old true freshman.
  10. How about Quentin Wright? Probably the least physically imposing 4x AA, 3x finalist and 2x champ ever.
  11. I think Gomez is more likely to pin Kasak. Gomez pinned RBY and also beat Yianni.
  12. Best case for Michigan: DeAugustino dec Davis (3-0) Ragusin dec Nagao (6-0) Bartlett Dec Lemley (6-3) Gomez FALL Kasak (12-3) Lewan dec Haines (15-3) Amine dec Mesenbrink (18-3) Starocci dec Griffin (18-6) Bullock dec Barr (21-6) Brooks maj Striggow (21-10) Davison dec Kerk (24-10)
  13. Currently ranked #12 at 149 by Intermat. Probably more of a natural 141 pounder like Beau Bartlett who also wrestled up for the team. Recently tech falled #14 Rooks, but had some struggles getting out from bottom. Is he a legit AA contender?
  14. Is it Iowa or is another team 2nd best after Penn State?
  15. 125: DeAugustino dec Davis 0-3 133: Ragusin dec Nagao 0-6 141: Bartlett dec Lemley 3-6 149: Gomez dec Kasak 3-9 157: Haines maj Mattin 7-9 165: Amine dec Mesenbrink 7-12 174: Starrocci dec Griffith 10-12 184: Truax dec Bullock 13-12 197: Aaron Brooks major Striggow 17-12 285: Kerkvliet dec Davison 20-12
  16. Such a weird way to end a tech fall for Kasak. He was up 14-0 and just had to escape to win but he couldn't escape until the end of the match when Rooks let up with 0.01 seconds left and the ref awarded the escape.
