  1. I think this might have been the best thing for Elam. I don't think he really earned a #1 ranking, but I think he could definitely win it all (along with about 5 other guys). Hopefully this brings him back to earth and helps him refocus heading into the post-season.
  2. Mizzou can't finish shots when they get in deep. Jacques can't, Hart has a hard time finishing shots against decent guys, Hawks has no leg attacks, and Rocky (who should not have been ranked #1) had a hard time with it.
  3. No extras, just 10 guys? I'd hope he at least brings a couple of back-ups, just in case.
  4. This is all assuming MU wrestles their normal lineup vs both teams, which knowing Smith is improbable. I've seen him rest guys and lose duals as a result (SDSU, UNI).
  5. What if........he hadn't destroyed his knees trying to win titles for Brands. Russians and Iranians won't hesitate to attack those hard, and if he can't make it through college without all of those injuries there's no way he'll make it long in international.
  6. "I just want some ice cream man. I just want some ice cream." -Kyven Gadsen
  7. Not sure what Smith's rules are, but O'Toole's 21.
  8. Nobody is injured, they're all ducking. Source: ionel
  9. I've seen guys who could just about break your ribs with a tight waist, that doesn't make it illegal. Bow and arrow is a tough move, but the refs can stop it any time they believe it becomes dangerous.
  10. I'd hate to think that Mizzou is holding guys out to protect seeds, so hopefully that's not the case at 165 and 197. I don't think it is the case at 149, since Mauller is not that highly ranked right now (#9).
  11. Totally agree, and I think he gets his @ss beat in UFC too.
  12. This seems to be his m.o. He'll have a few matches that are closer than they should be, and give up some points and takedowns here and there. But when the post-season rolls around he takes the headgear out of the briefcase.
  13. I would too, just not a stud. Last year he was hesitant to show his offense, but he has good defense. So he ended up in a lot of close matches, but couldn't finish in OT. He looks more aggressive so far this season, but he hasn't wrestled any of the top guys yet. He did decision North from Maryland who was unranked at the time, but has since moved up to 17th, but that's his best win so far this season.
  14. A stud like Jacques? He's started the season strong, but I'd hardly call him a stud.
  15. I don't necessarily agree with this. If they wrestled 10x I'd give the majority to Yianni, Gomez just happened to have Yianni's number in the one match they wrestled so far. Gomez should have lost in his all-star match if Sasso hadn't died in the third period, and he got whooped by an un-ranked freshman earlier this month. One win doesn't automatically make him the better p4p wrestler.
  16. I get the history of Monday v. Carr, but it should have been Carr vs O'Toole last night. Keegan's match v. Hamiti was not as close as the 7-1 final. I think when he got in on a deep shot and O'Toole turned it into his takedown in about 2 seconds, Hamiti realized he was in over his head. I though Elam was in full control besides the final minute of regulation. He got careless on top and gave up the reversal, then he took an ill-advised shot late that turned into Warner's two. You like to see the aggressiveness, but if he wrestled smarter then it should have finished 5-2. Flo has Elam at #2 this morning. As far as I know he hasn't wrestled Dean in college, but he has beaten him in freestyle.
  17. I know this is said tongue-in-cheek, but Mizzou's not in the MAC anymore. And their non-conf. schedule with ASU, VT, and the Southern Scuffle is not too shabby.
  18. Lowney had 3 junior national titles in freestyle also, which played a big role in his college success (a 3rd and 5th place finish at nationals).
