Seeding would often do the opposite. The top guys would get first round byes in unbalanced brackets. But in this tournament they don't want a bye, they want an easy first round match. So, Dresser was arranging it so that his guys got easy first round matches. NCAA rules are clear that you cannot do this, but it was done anyway, and no one really cared all that much.

Is it pistols at dawn? Based on rankings alone they both come down to bonus points as PSU is ranked highest in 5 weights. But, I think there is a general consensus that Mesenbrink should be ranked higher. With only Hamiti above him from the B1G, I think PSU would then be favored.

Recently read Chuck Klosterman's "But What If We're Wrong?: Thinking About the Present As If It Were the Past" And now I have moved on to his new book, "The Nineties" I like Klosterman a lot.

Misrepresenting your score is Flagrant Misconduct (Rule 5, Section 5, Article 1: ..including but not limited to non-physical acts of misbehavior...). The remedy per Rule 5, Section 5, Article 2 is: Prematch, Match or Postmatch Period — Dual Meet. A flagrant misconduct violation shall be penalized by the deduction of one team point, disqualification of the predictor, removal from the premises for the remainder of the event, declaration of all the opponents as the winners and the award of six points to the opponent’s team. (Also see Rule 5.5.9 for mandatory suspension requirements.) Do not make me go to Article 9 to see about that suspension.

I thought the same thing last night. But this morning I read on HVI that they finally got the video review system running at the end of the 133 match. That poster claimed that by then, by rule it could not be used since it was not available for all the matches. Sounds like they had bricks because they planned to have video review, but the best laid plans of mice and men...
