  1. There is another theory for what Elon Musk is up to. It goes something like this. All of Elon Musk's wealth derives from Tesla. Teslas are proud symbols of coastal elite liberals who have wanted to be aligned with Elon Musk and his liberal sympathies. Meanwhile conservatives view electric vehicles as woke, liberal crap. He has sold all of the Teslas he can to coastal elite liberals. If he were to do something that makes himself personally appealing to conservatives he can double the maximum addressable market for Teslas. If he can double the maximum addressable market for Teslas he can significantly increase his net worth.
  2. Teske has an unspecified injury. While Brands had an injury in the offseason, he has wrestled their last three duals.
  3. I wonder if we will see RBY wrestle Monday's duals. Assuming they have to weigh in both days, he makes it pretty clear here that he has no interest in doing that any more than is absolutely necessary. https://www.pennlive.com/penn-state-wrestling/2022/12/just-a-kid-from-tucson-roman-bravo-young-has-earned-some-fifth-year-penn-state-lineup-leeway.html
  4. Neither guy is ranked so there is no entry to display. There are a few of those scattered throughout.
  5. 10 am Blue Pool 12 pm Blue Pool 2 pm Blue Pool Is this the dual of the Duals? 9 of 10 weights see ranked vs ranked (neither team is ranked at 157 so it is missing from the table). Nine total wrestlers in the top 7 of their weight. ISU is favored in 6 of the 9 ranked/ranked matches. And everyone is looking forward to 149 with Yianni Diakomihalis v Paniro Johnson (let's hope it happens) 4 pm Blue Pool 6 pm Blue Pool 8 pm Blue Pool
  6. Starting Monday, Dec. 19 10 am Red Pool 12 pm Red Pool 2 pm Red Pool Our first big lineup of ranked vs ranked with OhST favored in 7 of 10 matches, and 5 of 8 ranked v ranked matches 4 pm Red Pool 6pm Red Pool 8 pm Red Pool
  7. Whoa, what is with the crap slinging? Oh, yeah. I asked for data and when you provided it I said thanks. Dan would have said "if true".
  8. How do you know nothing has changed? The data from 1928 to 1960 looks very different than the data from 1961 to 2011. Why can't things be different still 11 years later?
  9. I am going to guess you don't have the numbers to back that up or you would have shared them.
  10. Askren REALLY does not like Bono. Between "we know he's got no morals" and "I don't find him to be a trustworthy individual" (the second one he said he said to Kyle Burwick's dad while he was being recruited by WI), he really flamed Bono. Oh, and he described Bono as having built a house next to the transfer portal.
  11. In high school I was a straight A student. With the freedom to sleep in, skip classes, and drink beer, boy did I regress. But, I digress...what was the topic?
  12. And yet IL has more than double the number of starters in the B1G than PA though they have the same population. And IN has more starters in the B1G than PA though they have just over half the population.
  13. I am surprised IL and IN lead the number of starters. Great stuff, as usual, @flyingcement IL with the same population as PA and yet double the starters.
  14. He has a little streak of mean in him from whistle to whistle, but not before or after. I like it. He would manhandle some guys.
  15. I did triathlon relays. I would do the swim and pass the timer anklet to the cyclists and then meet the cyclist and runner at the finish line. The worst part of the Chicago Triathlon is that is it is about a quarter mile run from the swim exit to the bike racks. One year I had a shoulder injury, so most of my training was with a kick board. I leaned heavily on my kick during the swim that year to the point that my ass cramped up on the run to the bike racks.
  16. I said sportsmanship. If you don't get it, I can't help you.
  17. Agreed, and I call them out as lazy or dumb takes. I do think there is room for an honest discussion around possible overuse/overtraining injuries at Iowa, though. I say possible because I do not know, but last year seemed like a case of overuse injuries accumulating. Where Spencer Lee has made it clear that the decision to wrestle or not is his, you cannot put that on the coaches that in hindsight he made a poor decision to not get his knees repaired prior to last year. But with Eierman, Kemerer, and Cassioppi I think it is a fair question to ask if these injuries were due to overtraining.
  18. It is on my bucket list to never run a marathon...in aggregate. So far, so good.
  19. I work for a company whose general partner always says, "we want to be rich, not famous."
  20. I linked from the start of the conversation (1:11:00). After Ben Askren says, "I hate the fact that you don't count them as loses", Christian Pyles responds, "Yep, um, that is, uh, an example where, you know, it's not great, but can't count injury default wins...yeah, I mean, if the NCAA changes their stance on it, then, uh, maybe we would too, but." Askren says loses clearly and Pyles mumbles the word wins as JD Rader begins to talk over him, so I guess I focused on Askren's claim and missed Pyles' qualifier. Later (1:14:36) Pyles says that Lewan will not fall in the rankings because of the Scott injury default match, but will fall because he lost to Kendall Coleman, and so seems to contradict his earlier statement. In short it is a mess.
  21. Agreed, and I was on record over there saying 99% of what is considered a duck by people in these forums is just dumb. The one certified duck is when Schultz was standing matside with headgear on at last year's collegiate duals. And it wasn't even Schultz doing the ducking. That was on Zeke Jones. In a sport where injury is a near guarantee, we are lazy calling a duck rather than recognzing that fact. Of course, the Brooks situation was not reported as an injury, but as sportsmanship. The coaches arranged for a fair match. So be it.
