  1. We did it via a thread on the old board (maybe it was PM, I don't totally remember), I would imagine we would start one on the Fantasy Wrestling board here. I think it took us like 1.5 hours total. Honestly, it went pretty smoothly.
  2. Here's who I have participating so far: @VakAttack @nhs67 @MizzouFan01 @lu_alum @Idaho @MPhillips I believe we have one direct request to join from @Wrestleknownothing, if he confirms, I'll add him to the list of participants. We have a couple of guys chiming in, but I'm not sure if they want to join, so i'll need them to confirm: @Offthemat @bnwtwg Finally, we need to see if some of last year's participants who haven't chimed in want to play: ShakaAloha (Last year's champ, I don't believe he migrated here, but if he sees this, join in!) @flyingcement @Jerry Callo I think we actually ended up with 9 participants last year after starting with 10, Hank disappeared on us (and I haven't heard anything from him since, hope he's ok). Let me know!
  3. I think we ended up at 11, somebody didn't show up for the draft.
  4. No, because they're in different weight classes.
  5. It Van Ness is wrestling AOC in the finals, something crazy has happened.
  6. Nothing Facundo or Van Ness have shown this year indicates they have anything like that in them yet. Still a bunch of time to develop, but they're both very limited offensively. Facundo, in particular, is at a bear of a weight and I would have him as underdog to place. Van Ness is at an easier weight, but so far has shown to be more limited wrestler than Facundo (which is disappointing as a fan, since I think he has the most upside of any of the PSU young guys), and was recently relatively easily controlled by a guy I think most of think of as a bloodround guy in Max Murin. Haines, combining his ability with the weakness of the weight, is most poised to have one of those "PSU Freshman" runs, but I think O'Connor is a bear and will beat everybody, plus you have Andonian who is incredibly difficult to wrestle, especially the first time, and Robb. I would think Haines has a decent shot to mid-to-high AA, but out of Bartlett, Van Ness, and Facundo, I think your more likely to get one AA than three high AAs; they're just too limited offensively. PSU guys have great records at NCAAs, but it's typically on the back of their superstuds, and I see that trend continuing (as they cruise to another title, so I'm sure they won't be complaining).
  7. This is not true. You might find a guy or two, but that's it. 6 Champs is 120 points. None of their guys are huge bonus guys (although RBY is better this year). Bartlett is more likely go lose in the quarters than make the finals, he just doesn't have any offense. Honestly, I would be shocked if Penn State threatened their own team record, let alone the NCAA team record. That said, I think I read somewhere that the record is slightly inflated based on the current scoring system.
  8. Sal Jones and Sammy Sasso about to go for the third straight match.
  9. Shane Sparks, the announcers, is unsure of the score. Amazing.
  10. I'm guessing that was the $65 VIP package.
  11. My understanding is that this is a Spartan Combat/Cornell deal, not Flo. @Husker_Duwould know way better, but when i was trying to but tickets, it was thru some weird vendor, all the stuff indicated it was a non-Flo entity.
  12. No sound to start the 157 match, and suddenly the volume is up to 11.
  13. This event is not being produced by Flo. Spey has been (extremely) vocal about this on Twitter, lol.
  14. Wait, Yianni isn't wrestling either? Wtf? Isn't this Cornell's event? Now I'm glad I didn't drive down for this.
  15. It's weird that they have Sparks in the building, but his broadcast partner is coming to us from the bottom of the ocean, but what do I know?
  16. ANybody ( @Husker_Du ?) have tickets for this thing? I didn't even know it was happening, then today I tried to confirm if any of my buddies wanted to go with me and...they sold out. Apparently it's only like 350 people. FML.
  17. It's a little different because Russia is actively trying to annex parts or all of another country. That said, I would agree that penalizing the athletes for the conduct of the leader sucks; the counterargument being that the athletic organizing bodies don't really have the ability to affect Putin in anyway other than this, given his known love of sport. And yes we have blood on our hands (as a country) as well. Bottom line, I believe that there is some logic behind shunning a country currently engaged in extraterritorial wars trying to annex them in violation of international laws, and there is a difference in that vs. other military conflicts. I also think it's inherently unfair to the athletes involved. If forced to choose, I think the negative affect it has on Russia is marginal, and would side with letting the athletes compete.
  18. I think the perception around the Gomez-Yianni match up is that it was more flukey in that the 4 point move is more difficult to replicate, where as here Carr just seemed a class above KOT. Also Gomez didn't score offensively until over halfway thru the second period, whereas Carr was in control throughout. Pure eye test in this one, to me, is that this was the best performance, so I agree with CP. Great from both winners, though.
