  1. If me not wanting to risk the "occasional arrest" and lose my job and my kids see me in jail comes off as "fearful" so be it. The risk ain't worth the reward hoss.. ...you have the mentality of a child
  2. Totes, cause not wanting the "occasional arrest" makes me a boot licker.. grow up.
  3. Top 5 dumbest things to be said on this site since i've joined.
  4. He never one time said that, he blamed the dept of justice for going after them and not other programs and was using that as the reason they shouldnt be punished. They broke the rules. Regardless of what i think of the rule, they broke it. I think if Nelson didnt skip the meeting he may have heard the punishment for it and may not have done it. They dont have anybody to blame but themselves. You reap what you sow
  5. Wrestled there one time. Nice campus, got to see a space shuttle launch. Pretty cool experience.
  6. Seriously? Are you 12? Because being a pro wrestler means I can't have a valid opinion on this right? Being a pro wrestler means i certainly have never wrestled or coached before right? Grow up.
  7. Being sued for a large amount is apples to oranges. This would be as if they went to court knowing they had committed a crime (hypothetically here) and plead not guilty to something they, in fact, were guilty of. Its wrong and deceitful. Its as if he went to court and argued to the judge, "They're not guilty, its the justice departments fault for only investigating us and nobody else". And the fact anybody could even be on his side for that is asinine.
  8. How would that be quitting on them? They made mistakes and violated the rules and have to be held accountable. He's actively trying to prevent that from happening. Coaching wrestling isnt about winning matches. Its about creating good adults that are productive to society. If he cared about that, and truly wanted to set them up for success, he wouldn't be trying to get them out of trouble.
  9. If he cared about his athletes he'd be all for them reaping what they sow. He'd be for them facing the consequences of their actions. To learn from their mistakes. If he cared he wouldn't be blaming someone else. He cares about his teams points, he doesn't care about the athletes as people. Clearly
  10. But you missed the point. Kasper was on nxt. Gable isnt. He's been televised like 3 times the last two years. If you're at the WWE Performance Center for two years and aren't wrestling, there's an issue. A major issue. After two years just about anybody off the street could be turned into a pro wrestler there.
  11. Kasper and his brother just moved up to the main roster a couple weeks ago (I don't watch WWE but i do keep in touch with him every so often). Their amount of time in developmental isnt that far off considering neither of them had stepped into a ring before they started training. That time frame would obviously be different for someone who had been trained and was on the indie circuit before signing with wwe. Now take the time they were there and all their tv time and title matches compared to Gable. Of course its not confirmed WWE has "an issue", nothing like that would ever be confirmed. This is just the assertion i made between what i know about the business and WWE and the stories i've been told by some who have worked there.
  12. Every wrestler starting out struggles with positioning and working fast. It's part of your initial traingin to get those bad habits out. It isnt an amateur wrestling exclusive issue. It's an every pro wrestler issue lol. As for Angle, he did go through training. Trained at OVW in KY. Was there for six months or so then went up to WWE. Gable is training at the Performance Center in Florida and has been there for like two years now. In that time he's had like three tv appearances. It means the issue, whatever it is, is happening in Florida at the PC. Gable won't get any say in his character. Vince has 100% of the say.
  13. That's where his argument fell flat for me. Just becuase the NCAA found that 56% of athletes gamble doesn't absolve Iowa of their violations. It means they need to crack down on the rest, but Iowa should still be punished. He doesn't think they should.
  14. I wasn't comparing the two. I was replying to someone who brought up Andrew Long and that Cael's kids aren't perfect either. They drew those two situations together. I just said Cael never went off blaming the Justice Dept for the kids getting in trouble.
  15. I don't remember Cael ever complaining about the Justice Dept after Ed or Andrew got in trouble though. Thats the issue. Tom isnt accepting responsibility for his athletes, hes pushing blame elsewhere. maybe im wrong, but i dont think i am
  16. Nelson Brands was involved too. His excuse was he missed the meeting where they went over the severity of the punishments if caught
  17. They COULD change him from face to heel, yes. However, if you're awkward getting people to like you you're going to come off as fake (more fake than usual) as a heel. For referece, this is waht they did with Angle. He came out and was boo'd his first time so they flipped him to a heel. Slowly he got over becuase he was extremely charismatic. Heel or face, Gable just isnt charismatic. That isnt a dig on him either. It just is what it is.
  18. I think when they signed him they thought they had another Kurt Angle. But there will only ever be one. There are a few guys on their roster now that had outstanding careers on a mat, Chas Betts (Chad Gable) and Jacob Kasper (Julius Creed) are the fist two that come to mind. Both charismatic and extremely talented in the ring.
  19. Putting guys over means making them look strong. You're helping them "get over" with the crowd. You don't have to lose to put someone over. You can win and still make them look strong. I doubt that's the issue. From what I've seen of him in the ring (the few times he's been in) he isn't unsafe either. Maybe splitting his time between the OTC and WWE developmental caught up with him and he fell back training wise. However, two years is a long time to train at their training center and not progress. It also could be the fact he has the sexual assault allegations, although there are plenty of people who still work there who have done worse. Their chairman, for instance, Vince McMahon. So I doubt that's the reason either. I really, truly believe that he has 0 charisma and that's the issue. You say you can teach someone to talk on a mic, but either you're capable of talking or not. Either you're awkward or you're not. I've seen plenty of guys on the indie circuit be advertised as the next big thing but when put on the spot, with a mic, they crack.
  20. Destin was a 5x state champ and 6x finalist. Went to Nebraska then transferred to Un-Kearney. Was a 3x AA, 2x national finalist and 1x national champ. I'd hardly say that isn't fairing well after high school.
  21. On the weekend I moonlight as a pro wrestler. I travel the country with my little brother as my tag partner. I can tell you first hand the bumps hurt. But you do get used to them after time. We excelled early on because we both came from this same wrestling background. Of course neither of us were D1 athletes so id imagine they thought Gable would take to it like a boat on water too. Heck, they had just invested in Jacob Kasper from Duke and it paid off. Why wouldnt Gable be an even bigger star? I honestly think he just didnt progress like they all thought he would. After a while he had been forgotten, but WWE fans AND "shoot" wrestling fans as well. Putting him in the WTT got them headlines. I think that was their only goal. I do know their contracts are extremely specific. I don't think he'd be able to return to ncaa's or usaw just becuase he wants to. They have too much money invested in him.
  22. By all the accounts I've heard, he wasn't progressing at the pace they thought he would in ring. Then added on top of that he lacks charisma on the mic. They thought they had the next Kurt Angle when they signed him but didnt. I think world team trials was more of a publicity stunt. I doubt he was ever going to compete in Worlds.
