  1. My bad, to be fair it was a little confusing. But, sounds like this is totally true.
  2. I just watched the video on Flo's website (linked in my post above this one) and he did say that. Seems completely irresponsible of the parents, but damn I would've loved doing that as a kid.
  3. https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/10415250-roman-bravo-young-did-8th-grade-twice-didnt-go-to-school-for-a-whole-year Watch the video... Either RBY is a gigantic liar or the Flo guys did in fact know what they were doing.
  4. Bo Nickal said he was held back and literally sat around by himself playing video games and going to wrestling practice for an entire year. Nothing like a redshirt year during middle school to make sure you have a leg up on the competition! It's extremely common, so I bet it is true.
  5. Interestingly enough, it seems that the vast majority of wrestlers who make the jump from 197 to heavyweight seem to have more success, not less. Wonder why that is.
  6. Based on Askren's comments on FRL (and he's very close with Mesenbrink obviously), absolutely not true.
  7. Everyone keeps saying that DT will never end up coaching because of all of his endeavors at and around Penn State, but at the end of the day, it shows that he is constantly adding more to his plate and still has the desire to grow. If he gets offered an incredible coaching gig when he's done wrestling (which is a huge time suck and likely to be after June of this year), the least of his worries is finding a manager of a juice bar or a way to transport his two cows. With this mindset, he'd never leave Pennsylvania due to sunk costs. I'd be way more inclined that he would see it as a way to EXPAND his brands and businesses, rather than shut the other ones down.
  8. Will he though? Ben Askren was just on FRL saying he hopes Levi Haines and Mesenbrink swap spots because Mesenbrink is better suited for 157 lbs. I'd be very surprised if he goes 174.
  9. Can't tell if you're being serious but damn that's wild if true lol
  10. I was being obtuse on purpose lol but apparently Askren didn't see eye to eye with the admin/coaches at Wisconsin when he was the RTC coach and, right or wrong, Ben is holding a grudge. Bono is paying royally for it as it seems no AWA kid will ever end up there while he's at the helm.
  11. I think he just comes across as the stereotypical jock without much going on between the ears. I have a feeling he's not actually bored he just doesn't convey it well.
  12. Accept he absolutely sucks and can't recruit anyone in the state after burning the Askren bridge
  13. Awesome ending. Both Caldwell's and this spladle ended in a pin, yet Jesse Mendez didn't get a single swipe. What the hell? Did the rules change or what?
  14. Bo Nickal and Anthony Cassar's ***I'm not very creative and act like a 5 year old***
  15. Dake does speak a lot about Gabe Dean being his guy in the room, which is wild because he was 184 lbs. So, I think he had adequate competition, just not something he can replicate on the mat since Dean was so much bigger. I do agree that Dake needs to be near the top, he's the only one to actually do hit his true freshman through actual senior years (no Covid year, no redshirts).
  16. I forgot about Keckeisen, you're right there. Myles Amine never won a title. Who else did Brooks beat on the way that has a title? Logan Stieber took out: Tony Ramos, Kendrick Maple, Jordan Oliver, Zain Retherford...
  17. True, but everyone is dropping Logan down the list due to astericks such as his final with JO, who was an all-time great. Also because he lost to Zain, another all-time great when he had the flu. The best person Brooks ever faced in college was Trent Hidlay, who got 4th place behind Kaleb Romero just last year. Just throwing more asterisks in since they seem to be valid in this argument.
  18. Covid year and Zahid likes the booger sugar.
  19. I agree with what you're saying, but Shane Griffith was also held together by tape the entire season. We're lucky his limbs didn't fall off.
  20. Aaron Brooks was certainly dominant, but he definitely benefited in not having to face Zahid in the NCAA finals his actual freshman year. He'd likely be a 3 timer if that were the case.
  21. I'm wondering the same. I like him and his style, and will always root for him, but he seems to have fallen into the category of the less-than-intelligent mouth breathers who think they're smart due to their group of yes men around them.
  22. Really solid comparison. I'm not in tune with the happenings at Iowa, but the fact that all of the golden boys of the program (Brent Metcalf, (maybe) Derek St. John, Tony Ramos, Gilman) that seemed to embody their "Iowa style" the most, all left on bad terms, seems telling to me.
  23. Yeah, I would agree Bastida. I was rooting for him to stir things up as well. He flamed out once he lost to Davison. The finger sucks for sure, but I don't see that as a reason to go from potential champ to not even placing. Snap it in place and tape it up.
