  1. We have a different problem now. We pay fathers to use their arable land to produce crops that no human can eat raw (field corn), or can be processed into sweeteners that are significant contributing factor to our skyrocketing obesity rate. Or, we pay farmers to not grow anything at all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I’d bet that Ferrari weighed 8-10lbs more than him when they stepped on the mat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Because Ryder is spending his senior year at M2/NLWC and will have as much time at PSU as Barr before Starocci leaves. I see the lineup at 157-184 in two years time as: 157: Haines/Sealey 165: Sealey/Haines 174: Messenbrink 184: Ryder/Barr Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. In response to the opening post of the thread/topic: Read “The Grapes of Wrath”. A relevant passage. The one the book draws its title from: “The works of the roots of the vines, of the trees, must be destroyed to keep up the price, and this is the saddest, bitterest thing of all. Carloads of oranges dumped on the ground. The people came for miles to take the fruit, but this could not be. How would they buy oranges at twenty cents a dozen if they could drive out and pick them up? And men with hoses squirt kerosene on the oranges, and they are angry at the crime, angry at the people who have come to take the fruit. A million people hungry, needing the fruit- and kerosene sprayed over the golden mountains. And the smell of rot fills the country. Burn coffee for fuel in the ships. Burn corn to keep warm, it makes a hot fire. Dump potatoes in the rivers and place guards along the banks to keep the hungry people from fishing them out. Slaughter the pigs and bury them, and let the putrescence drip down into the earth. There is a crime here that goes beyond denunciation. There is a sorrow here that weeping cannot symbolize. There is a failure here that topples all our success. The fertile earth, the straight tree rows, the sturdy trunks, and the ripe fruit. And children dying of pellagra must die because a profit cannot be taken from an orange. And coroners must fill in the certificate- died of malnutrition- because the food must rot, must be forced to rot. The people come with nets to fish for potatoes in the river, and the guards hold them back; they come in rattling cars to get the dumped oranges, but the kerosene is sprayed. And they stand still and watch the potatoes float by, listen to the screaming pigs being killed in a ditch and covered with quick-lime, watch the mountains of oranges slop down to a putrefying ooze; and in the eyes of the people there is the failure; and in the eyes of the hungry there is a growing wrath. In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage.” The US has been doing this, at the behest of corporations large and small, and the US Gov, for a long ass time. 5. Maybe he gets canned? I get that 165 is a meat grinder but Hamiti 6th twice in a row, Amos being 1-4 in two years at NCAAs, losing prized recruits to other not-great programs, etc are not great results. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Greco. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I think Nick Lee will go like 2-2. Win a match, lose to a finalist, win a match in repechage, lose the next. For whatever reason he seems to refuse to game plan for top level guys (see: Musukaev) that his US peers have beaten. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I would pay good money for a Dake vs Kadi rematch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. And then you take up the reigns at Wisconsin, Ben? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Being WC at the weight gets him SOME points, but apparently counts less than winning the Grand Prix of BFE and Eastern Southwestern Turkmenistan Open. I get that UWW wants to incentivize wrestling at their events but this way results in non-medalist wrestlers getting seeded into positions that make it easier to medal. 11. She’s a very polarizing figure. Was supposed to go to Tokyo but ran afoul of USADA for weed. Super talented. But she seems/seemed very easily distracted. One thing that I noticed recently is that she’s no longer doing the wig/gigantic nails/bedazzled singlet thing. This may or may not have been the look she was going for but “cabaret” would be a good description. Not saying her focus on that side of things caused her poor results, but her better, recent results seem to correspond with ditching all of that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  13. Ol’ Bird Bones Deakin would have looked right at home at 174. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Allow me to clarify: Plenty of guys who didn’t outwardly and regularly express their faith in various forms of media. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Show me a clip where Bartlett mentions any deity. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I don’t remember him doing that in college interviews. Time flies, I suppose? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. And SVN, and Bartlett, and DT, and Ruth, and Cenzo, and Nolf… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Plenty of non-religious kids have come through PSU’s team as well. Cael helps people understand that they are more than “just” wrestlers and their identity and value is not tied to their results on the mat. Win or lose, it’s not the end of the world. Like @Gus says, that’s freeing to many of them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. Please tell me which expired weapons system you would employ against which moving, human, non-combatant target. Would you target fighting age men primarily, or pregnant women as the bed bang for your buck? How would you conduct reconnaissance and targeting? Would you fly drones into Mexican airspace? 22. There are going to be a LOT of guys at not-very-optimal weights for Iowa vs ISU. If nothing else, should make for a competitive dual. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I didn’t think that Bastida was a particularly large 197 last year. He didn’t look huge against Dean, a small 197, for example. If Keuter gets up to 240, he’d have a pretty decent length, reach and strength advantage. Now, will he even be practicing at that point? Unlikely. Iowa vs ISU is usually before FB bowl season, I think. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. That young man looked so clueless when he last wrestled folkstyle. I could see Woods picking up 6 for the Black and Gold. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Facundo, Bartlett, SVN and McIntosh are the training partners for Dake, Lee, Retherford and DT. That’s why they are listed, and I guess they could be alternates. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
