  1. Joey Cruz just committed to Iowa - posted on his instagram.
  2. Try asking for the Top 10 Minds in NCAA Wrestling Media.
  3. Do I think it's an AI generated deep fake? No, it's clearly him in the video. Do I think it's plausible somebody 'hacked' or gained access to his social media and posted this to embarrass him? Yes. The video was posted to his story and left up for over 2 hours before being deleted - roughly the 5:15-7:15AM timeframe before everything was gone. I think that's more in line with not having access to your account to delete it. There's no way the guy who lives on social media 'accidentally' posted that vid and left it up for 2+ hours. So either A.) somebody else posted it while on his account to embarrass him, or B.) he posted it for 'attention' and had a change of heart after receiving backlash. I fully appreciate that public opinion is very low on the Ferrari family, but I think that A is more likely in this scenario.
  4. I think he was a paper All-American in 2020. I think most schools include that when considering AA honors.
  5. There's a good summary of the show over on BWI courtesy of @82bordeaux. https://pennstate.forums.rivals.com/threads/matscouts-tfw-5-16-23.335475/
  6. I'll wish all of them the best no problem. Was glad to see Michigan load up. I like seeing strong Michigan and Ohio State teams. Also glad to see Iowa State getting back to relevance - we even donated a #1 recruit to them to make room for another . Hope that Minnesota can get back to being tough, they've got some elite uppers in the fold for a good foundation. Hope Oklahoma State can get back to contending as well. Cornell, NC State, Virginia Tech, Northwestern, Missouri.. all places landing and developing big time wrestlers, and others I haven't mentioned. Love to see it all. The field has to help Iowa out every once in a while to take out PSU.
  7. I think that should be obvious. And no I don't think Arnold could beat Starocci. I do think if a hypothetical matchup did occur - he would present a similar level of challenge as Nelson. Great handfighter, extremely difficult to score on. A 2-1 or similar low scoring loss wouldn't surprise me.
  8. I love stuff like this, appreciate it!
  9. He'll be redshirting, and wrestling 174. Might get sent out to beat Starocci at the dual for one of his free true freshman matches. We'll see.
  10. For the sake of accuracy, Chittum just turned 20 this past March. Born March 28, 2003.
  11. Just practicing a bit of trolling old chap, only way to improve is with some off-season practice. Just poking some fun at the being beat in the room thing. I know the story behind the lack of final big board rating. Just makes for a "fun" talking point about Brands excellent coaching abilities when he places. I think one thing he's got going for him is 157 is not especially deep.
  12. Obviously FLO and Willie had gotten word about him being dominated by the gophers depth chart at 149 and 157 and significantly cooled on him as a prospect.
  13. Hopefully Brands can coach up young Chittum, Iowa is in desperate need of a diamond in the rough appearing. He isn't even ranked on FLO or Willies big board for 2022 or 2023, so clearly most Iowa fans are just being overly optimistic about his potential as usual. Heck, just winning the starting spot at a program such as Iowa without even being ranked on a big board is pretty much unheard of these days. Just doing that alone should be noteworthy. This will be a true testament to the Brands coaching abilities if they can make something of this kid.
  14. I wouldn't ever predict it happening, but I can envision a scenario. It would look like a classic Amine match against top competition. Brands held Starocci to no TD and lost 2-1 on a riding time point. If he can wrestle that type of match with him he's got the explosiveness to blow through on a counter blast double (Kennedy/Marinelli NCAA matches come to mind for me).
  15. It's a process gentlemen. You can't grow a good mullet in a day, can't deadlift 665 lbs in a day.
  16. Had a great day today ionel. Started with a ~20 min dynamic warmup. DB Split Squats 3 x 8 each side DB Bench 3 x 8 DB bent over rows 3 x 8 each side DB bent over reverse Flies 3 x 10 DB Superset Calf Raises 2x15 + French Press 2x10 Then moved on to some killer core - Hollow body holds, planks, L sits, various other ab burning exercises Finally finished with some static stretching, then repeated many of the stretches with resistance bands for stretching/strengthening in lengthened positions. These old man joints are starting to feel young again. (Will be 29 this Winter). Thank you for humoring me
  17. I'm heading to the gym so this felt appropriate.
  18. Willie posted on HR that Laird Root (the guy Estrada beat in the State finals) was also a Badger commit who recently flipped to N. Carolina. They also had a Cadet world medalist enter the portal recently.
  19. From conversations with some NDSU Alum friends who wrestled under Kish, they are hoping for Obe Blanc to take over as well.
  20. Santaniello could just as well Redshirt and take over in 2025.
  21. 3 Time Cali State Champ - Miguel Estrada flips commitment from Wisconsin to Iowa. #28 on Matscouts, #24 on FLO. Class of 2024. Projected 149/157.
  22. My personal favorite is the deer analogy after he beat Joey Dance in the quarters 2015. (that part starts at 1:27)
  23. Central WI - Wisconsin Valley Conference Territory. The epicenter of the greatest state in the world. We don't have the infrastructure to support it, but we can build an arena and accompanying shantytown to support the event, similar to the world cup in Qatar.
  24. I hope Iowa snags some or all the following: #1 Ferrari - connection is obvious with brother already committed. #56 Ayala - Family connection, solid room guy, provides solid depth in the lower weights. #73 Voinivich - Hope we snag his older brother Victor from the portal too. Want the Stillwater HS connection. Voinivich and Ferrari HS teammates and friends with LaDarian Lockett (2025). He is Okie States to lose but you never know, supposedly he is open to considering other options. #27 Manville - Is he a lock to PSU? They seem to be getting awfully crowded. Van Ness/Haines for 3/4 years + Kasak for 4/5 years + Class of 2025 PA State champ Dalton Perry has already committed. Maybe he wants to go there and fight for a starting spot (wouldn't be shocked at all), but it's worth kicking the tires if you're Iowa. He had a very good showing at the US open this past weekend. Lost 1 point matches to Kasak and Mendez. Probably unlikely to get both Manville and the Voinivich brothers due to weight overlap. Probably unlikely to get any of them, I'm just spitballing here. Would love to go after Cody Merrill as well, but sounds like he'll be a HWT. Who knows how that would play out with Kueter. Otherwise, hope the groundwork is being laid for class of 2025. Need to have a big haul in that class.
  25. 10-4 on that one. I also hope that Iowa snatches up Victor Voinivich from the portal, and recruits his younger brother Kael from Stillwater HS. Make inroads there and make Iowa a more attractive landing spot for LaDarian Lockett.
