NLWC has like 8 out 12 guys in the MFS finals. It’s just the best room in the country right now.

Brooks was apparently cutting weight after midnight and had to make weight at like 8AM or something. Really unfortunate that they ran the tournament like this. Maybe have more mats going, or run the Greco and WFS tournaments individually.

NBC just threw this together and put it on an out the way streaming service that streams all types of content all the time, including other sports. Plus it’s only six bucks. Meanwhile Flowrestling focuses on wrestling and you have to subscribe for a year.

I agree that walking a guy out is not as exciting as a takedown. But the way a step out shapes a match makes the match better. Athletes can’t flee the mat as easily, and they get rewarded for taking the risk and effort to attack a leg. Much better than two guys sitting at edge, refusing to engage.

Something needs to change about the OTT challenge tournament schedule. Brooks and Zahid wrestled at nearly 11 PM, and then Starocci posted a picture to social media of Brooks cutting weight at 12:38 AM. That’s not good!

I sure hope he goes for the 79kg spot. It certainly won't be easy, though. That bracket might include the loser of Nolf/Dake plus Starocci, Marsteller, Ringer, Hall, etc.

In general, I think that guys getting chippy and trying to bully their opponent for an athletic edge is fair game. And I think a wrestler responding to a bully attempt is also fair game. Wrestling, after all, is a regulated fight. But attempting to injure an opponent is totally unacceptable. I don't think MM attempted to injure JB, but if he pushed low on his legs while out of bounds, that would be a grey area IMO.

I think we can all agree that Zahid should have repped Mexico. He'd probably already be an Olympian, watching the OTTs from Arizona, sitting by a pool with a bowl of chips and guac. But instead he's in State College, in Appalachia, having all sorts of things happen to him at nearly 11 PM.
