  1. Right, I have no problem with students and interns getting some live experience on the mic (maybe camera and production crew too) but it's crazy for BTN+ to charge folks for it
  2. + Future NIL deal for Will Pinfelldkamp from ISU
  3. All good catches, brother If you and Wkn decide to make PINFELL TO WINFELL t-shirts, sign me up for one!
  4. Interestingly when the 15pt tech was introduced, those who opposed it said it would rob the sport of character-building. A guy might be losing, but there's still bragging rights in going the distance against a much tougher wrestler without getting pinfelled. It also deprives fans from seeing their favorite wrestlers pin to win, and conversely, from wrestlers down big on points from working hard and turning things around with a pin.
  5. I guess it was a one time thing Fujinami did to test herself. Put her 130+ match winning streak on the line, too. https://uww.org/article/fujinamis-pre-paris-prepping-includes-victory-rare-clash-fellow-world-champion-sakurai I also appreciate the no-duck/no seed preservation culture: "What made the Fujinami-Sakurai encounter so unique was that it occurred in such an innocuous event. While NSSU and Ikuei have emerged as the collegiate powerhouses in women's wrestling, no major title nor individual glory was on the line... 'We are in an era now where the strong wrestlers want to face each other... if you avoid each other, you won't get stronger. There was also the pride of representing their university. The tournament organizer thought they wouldn't face each other, but they wanted to do it.'"
  6. Rza was being a diaper baby and might be in the wrong sport. You could tell that ADS was bothered by the protesting and extracurriculars but kept his cool. Dennis looked kind of pissed too. This should all go in the International forum.
  7. I hope the Northwestern is good to go by next Sunday
  8. Wkn or one of the analytics guys probably know this cold, but I think the 15pt tf was introduced in the early 80s, around 1983. IIRC a tech was worth 6, the same as pinfelling an opponent, and there was some debate at the time about techs counting towards Gorriaran Award metrics at Nationals. And weren't techs also adjusted again in the 90s to be 4 points in duals (same as a major)? I think the goal was to incentivize pins. Someone please fact check me here.
  9. Good first period for Fish but it was just a matter of time before the score regressed to the mean I guess
  10. Has Mesenbrink been breaking Haines at practice or what? Levi hasn't looked like Levi.
  11. Was surprised that the locked hands call got waved off
  12. Haines 7-6 TB2, was down 5-6 underneath and hit a late reversal
  13. WOW, crazy fkn match. Saldate was robbed
  14. What is going on with Haines lately??
  15. Wow. Hopefully that sequence lights a fire under Haines' ass
  16. Did Sakurai go 100% or are college duals in Japan kind of DDM like NCAAs? I'm out of my depth here but if it wasn't Fujinami just challenging herself, it's pretty wild for her to play around with her weight at this point before the Olympics... although it makes sense for her to jump past 55kg.
  17. Pinfell 6, tech 4, major 2, dec 1? Team point deductions could really hurt but w/e.
  18. Boldest prediction in this thread is the assumption that all of PSU's starters go
  19. "Illinois vs Northwestern postponed." Jombo, the ham & vinegar guy: Stallllllllllling! Stalllllllllllling!
