  1. Now that I think about it, you're right. The hanging chad is whether he beats the charges. If he does it meabs he's got what it takes.
  2. Funny, but he's a different sort of megalomaniacal nut. I was gonna say he could be a corny RGIII-style media figure, but the sexual assault charges though.
  3. A small school in Northern VA: Brentsville District HS (Nokesville, VA). My coach --Thad Kiesnowskiwas -- was a good friend of DeAugustino.
  4. I met him a few times at Mike Deanna's summer camps and then went on a recruiting trip to Duquesne. I often wish I had taken a chance on that school .
  5. Word. Rare is the kid you just isn't trying. They want to win and want to please you. Yelling is frustration and frustration is contagious.
  6. What about the Pat Pop / John Smith story?: A cowboy off the trail in ropers, Wranglers, and a Stetson shows up to challenge Smith after a practice. Smith limbers up, asks him "You sure you got insurance?," and proceeds to kick the p*ss out of him ... guy's begging to stop, and Smith won't let him go.
  7. PSU has multiple weights with AA-level back ups and can't get/keep a 125. Strange bc NLWC has the senior-level guys at 57.
  8. To state the obvious, Gus DeAugustino had some great teams.
  9. Correct. Here's Albrecht's contribution to the sport (from his Knight, Death, and the Devil, 1513):
  10. *Joke fail: the DC Eagle closed its door during lockdown. I had no idea and am kinda bummed. Such a cool venue. In any event, my bad.
  11. This line-up is like that certain place in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony when we feel that we are floating above the earth in a starry dome, with the dream of immortality in our hearts; all the stars seem to glimmer around us, and then we wake up in Stillwater -- Nietzsche
  12. IDK I saw this guy at the DC Eagle last weekend. If you haven't been, it's a good night. *Warning: If you have kids you should probably scrub your browser history after searching for the directions.
  13. Old Skool: Shelton pins Dr Death at Bedlam. It was my first dual, and all I remember is Dr. Death's hands and feet wriggling like Gregor underneath a boot.
  14. OSU happened to him: injured; cut too much weight; routinely gave up 2-minute ride-outs; backed up on his feet; couldn't get out of his own head, etc. He was part of that little snowball at the top of the mountain that started rolling and eventually lead to the avalanche of mediocrity that we see today.
  15. Right, but Gilman was an arch-h. This pin was deeply satisfying.
  16. Zola When, however, he noticed Étienne and Catherine at the wicket, he started and became very red, and was opening his mouth to refuse their names; then, he contented himself with the triumph, and a jeer. Ah! ah! so the strong man was thrown? The Company was, then, in luck since the terrible Montsou wrestler had come back to it to ask for bread?
  17. Montaigne And when wrestlers counterfeit the philosophers in patience, ‘tis rather strength of nerves than stoutness of heart. Now to be inured to undergo labour, is to be accustomed to endure pain: “Labor callum obducit dolori.” —Cicero
