  1. The North Carolina state photo ID is a very reasonable $14. When I first voted in an election at 18 years old, I didn't have a state issued photo ID. I didn't have a passport, didn't have a driver's license, no state non-driver ID either. If the only thing I needed a state ID for at the time was to vote in an election at $14 I might do it, but if it was $40 or $50 I might have passed.
  2. Probably because it was an unfair election. How could the Judge be sure everyone that voted in the election was legally allowed to vote since they have to produce photo ID?
  3. The obvious solution would be to take another page from the Olympic playbook and cut the number of weights. Currently there are 10 mens weights just make it 5 men and 5 women and kept the same format. That solves 1 and 3. If 2 is that big of an issue we could just switch the men to freestyle and solve everything.
  4. Tyler Berger announced his retirement. https://www.instagram.com/p/C6Rgsl_Lgdw/?igsh=Ync5cnFjY3V6ajJy
  5. No immediate retirements, though I wonder how much longer we will see Richards, Megaludis, Gilman, Tomasello, and DeShazer. All will be at least 30 by the end of next month. I'd be surprised if they were all still wrestling in 2028. I hope they still are. Danny Felix made his one and only world team at 35 years old at this weight
  6. Is the Bradley Hendrickson Quarterfinal available for replay? This is the match where Bradley double legged him off the platform.
  7. Dom Bradley announced his retirement. Never thought I'd see the day. https://x.com/JustinJBasch/status/1783842043720257691
  8. That's what I came up with too. While Flo might have made the correct statement I suspect they stumbled onto it.
  9. "Kyle made his 3rd Olympic team.. 11th US wrestler to do that." Is how they phased it, which would include Maroulis. I suppose it's possible that they cited 11 because they are not counting Jay Tommy Evans because he only wrestled in 2 Olympics 1952 and 1956. He represented the US in both freestyle and greco in 1956 and only freestyle in 1952. Are you including him in the list because of the two styles in 1956 or and I missing an Olympics? I could see Flo saying that he represented the US in 2 events at one Olympic, but that is one Olympic team so only made 2 teams. Is Evans the only person to represent the US in both styles at the Olympics?
  10. 1980 is being counted in Fuller's total. Ben Peterson was also on the 1980 team which did not participate. Peterson only competed in 2 games
  11. On FRL today they said that Kyle Snyder made his 3rd olympic team and that he was the 11th American to do this. I can't think of the other 10. Big Bruce Baumgartner is the obvious one. He was on the team 4x in 1984, 1988, 1992, and 1996. Ben Peterson was on the team in 1972, 1976, and 1980. Bill Kerslake (1952, 1956, 1960). Helen Marouis is the only lady to make 3 teams (2016, 2021, and 2024). Who were the other 66?
  12. This came too late to help Willie/@Husker_Du, but Flo will not be able to use this tactic to stop others from moving on in the near future. "The ban, which will take effect later this year, carves out an exception for existing noncompetes that companies have given their senior executives, on the grounds that these agreements are more likely to have been negotiated. The FTC says employers should not enforce other existing noncompete agreements." https://www.npr.org/2024/04/23/1246655366/ftc-bans-noncompete-agreements-lina-khan
  13. Whaaaat?!?! Two Cinnabons? They are multiplying!
  14. I don't really follow greco, but I seem to recall that he left his shoes on the mat after losing in the best of three finals at the 2021 trials. He won the spot up a weight at 97kg. I tried to find some information to confirm my recollection regarding his retirement and I found a bunch of information that he was challenging his loss at the 2021 trials via arbitration. From what I gather Rau and his coaches requested the official of his final be changed because he had a team affiliation with Rau's opponent. This was denied and there was some fishy stoppages and calls during the first bout. Match 1 Rau Stefanowicz 2021 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K04Fxf17rkA Match 2 Rau Stefanowicz 2021 - https://youtu.be/oGtE-K01ry8?si=r954edGNmen29W4l Match 2 doesn't shoe him leaving his shoes on the mat. Does anyone recall him leaving his shoes on the mat in 2021? Does anyone know the outcome of the arbitration? I assume he lost because Stefanowicz wrestled at the Olympics, but is the decision available anywhere? Did they re-wrestle the match?
  15. Sonnen said that Starocci has been offered $400k to wrestle in the NCAA next season. It is hard to imagine that this offer was coming from Pitt. It is also somewhat hard to believe anything Sonnen says. He starts talking about Starocci at 4:20 in the video.
  16. Yes, the most NCAA titles per wrestler and possibly the most D1 NCAA titles. The 1984 team also had 4 titles on the greco side with Blatnik a 2x D2 champ and Famiano a 2x D3 champ. I think the 2024 greco team will only have 1 NCAA champ, Joe Rau with a D3 title.
  17. I think the step out is far superior to fleeing or stalling. It is black and white did the whole foot leave the wrestling area. It turns a judgement call (stalling and fleeing) into something objective. I favour that. Straight arm pushout and grounded exceptions kind of annoying aspects to it, but in comparison to stalling/fleeing are a net positive. OP's complaint was about passivity judgement calls not step outs. Removing the step out and replacing it with fleeing/passivity would just create more of these.
  18. Not the only time that happened in the tournament. Brooks wrestled Dieringer in the semis. Brooks has 4 titles and Ringer 3. More Hodges on the mat(2 vs 1) in that one too. NCAA records Kyle Dake 137-4, Alex Dieringer 133-4, Jason Nolf 117-3, Aaron Brooks 89-3.
  19. A 4th final, 74kg, featured RTC teammates with Nolf and Dake wrestling each other.
  20. Alex Marinelli tweeted his retirement on X after the trials.
  21. I'll give him a pass if he did the same thing to Taylor Saturday night.
  22. 18 is a maximum for the team. Lee and Retherford still need to qualify. Could be 12, 15, or 18 at the games. The 1984 team had 19 individual NCAA titles. Bobby Weaver (0) Joe Gonzales (3) Barry Davis (3) Randy Lewis (2) Andy Rein (1) Dave Schultz (1) Mark Schultz (3) Ed Banach (3) Lou Banach (2) Bruce Baumgartner (1)
  23. Not sure. The lady on the PA said multiple times the top 4 are on the national team. She started to expound on it at one point but was cut off by action on the mat. I think JB must not have weighed in day 2. I guess because there is the possibility he'd have to wrestle 3rd place he is required to weigh in. Top 4 - Dake, Nolf, Burroughs, Messenbrink should have been on the team is my understanding. Not really sure.
