  1. I hope you've spent some time trying to lose your gut.
  2. As I said, I paid $200 for mine... so maybe closer to the pic below, but mine was better. And yours was?
  3. I am not at all surprised. To start with, you contradict yourself with your own post. You just posted a graph with measurements up to and including over 400,000 years ago as if it were real and relevant because you found it on the internet. The worst part is that the graph - on the far-right skyrockets for CO2. Indicating it isn't cyclical at all - it is actually skyrocketing. It's circled in red! On the credibility meter, this thread has descended into the nonsense zone... on that bombshell, I'm out.
  4. I understand that. I think most of us do. It is a difficult thing to put in perspective. The argument that "the government is the problem, not the athletes" is problematic, because the athletes are representing their country and its government in competition. Part of their role is to bring success and glory to their country and leaders. The country, its people, its government, and its athletes are all inextricably bound together. A government cannot act without having to answer to its people to some degree. An athlete cannot win without bringing glory to their country to some degree. And so on... I would very much like to see a path that would allow Russian wrestlers to compete. I just don't see one.
  5. The fact is that the nutty people who called for defunding the police exist in both parties. If you look at people currently being arrested for and convicted of crimes, these criminals belong to both parties, too. To pin bad judgement or criminality on a specific political party is kind of silly. I could say that most flat-earthers and QANON believers are R's. That might be true, but it would be a silly thing to imply that the flat-earth and QANON concepts are somehow owned by the Republican party. They aren't. And anyone that blasts the R party for pushing those concepts is misguided. Why do politicians get elected who are wackos, you ask? Again, not a problem specific to either party. Plenty of wackos in both parties. IMO, way too many. My point is that there is no need to break these things down by making generalizations about a party. It doesn't serve any positive purpose. On the other hand, it comes in handy if the purpose is to try to vilify a specific party. Then it becomes a tool to encourage us to point fingers, spread anger and hate, and keep us all focused on fighting each other. The other party isn't the enemy. But getting people to believe they are, has shown to be an effective way to get votes. Which may explain why we keep electing wackos in both parties.
  6. You're right. Satire and comedy is open to all topics. But simply being satire or comedy doesn't make it actually funny. That's just my opinion. Your taste may differ.
  7. Of all the things that could potentially lead to the demise of wrestling. Who would have thought that the biggest predator would be some of the wrestling coaches themselves. Did not see that one coming. All the talk about hard work and honor - and at the end of the day, just about money and medals. That's more than a little pathetic. Starting to look like wrestling's recent upward trajectory is taking a turn for the worse. Dammit.
  8. Let me get this straight. Giant "supermatch" with stage, lights, and "all that jazz" to end the show - and, after, he says "I love wrestling." Of course, he does - he was in the main event and the center of everyone's attention. Every kid would love that. I get it - you are very proud and want to post about it even if it is bragging. Nothing wrong with that. Except, taking shots at others here on the way is seriously weak. Calling out their "resumes"? C'mon - even weaker.
  9. That does kind of explain more about you... and also your choice of the word 'aholes' in your post. Oh, and also the mask wearing avatar. I'm cool with it, but all this time never knew you were such a dirty bird.
  10. Funny you should ask. I bought the car from a friends' parents - it was in the narrow alley behind their house next to the detached garage. But it was the middle of the winter, so it was literally buried in snow. "Buried" as in there was no car to be seen, just snow. Had to shovel it out, and then borrow my Dad's Jeep (and my Dad) to pull it out and drag it home. It had just enough brakes to get it done - barely. Thought it was the best $200 I ever spent. Months later... can confirm.
  11. My 1st car (not actually my 1st one, but the 1st one I bought with my own money.) Mine was white. 1968 VW Fastback - Air cooled 1600cc dual-carb rear-engine (see the fins above rear tire for air flow) I thought it looked a little like a Porsche 911, at least from the front. Basically, a VW bug but way cooler and every bit as slow.
  12. The big bait 'n switch... jross put on quite a "homicide" show there. Had me hooked. Now that we see what it actually is: Bigbrog, it's still not even remotely funny to me. You're right, I find abortion humor distasteful. Maybe more your thing.
  13. @jross As I've posted before, you are kind of an odd duck when it comes to your nonchalant attitude towards killing people. You make a parody of homicide. Except it's not funny at all. I'm a little worried about you. It's just weird - kind of serial killer type weird.
  14. How about stand up, put your right hand in, your right hand out proceed to right hand in again to shake it about and turn yourself round. If you aren't interested in the matches of the OP, maybe do something hokey instead. Better for you to be bored and thought dim than to actively post to prove it.
  15. If you aren't competing to win, then you aren't really competing. At some point the outcome does matter - otherwise, it's the very definition of insanity.
  16. Glad you were interested in the topic but not any of the matches. Cool story, thanks for posting. Stay classy.
  17. If you're burying participants with "regularity" - then I'd have to categorize it as just plain dumb. Plenty of sports to compete in where death isn't a regular result. The rest is macho BS. That's just my humble opinion.
  18. Just like the movie "Rudy" - having a goal, committing to it, and not letting setbacks stop you... until you finally win. That makes it all worthwhile. Somehow my earlier message got twisted up. It's the winning part that makes it all worth it. You don't wrestle because you enjoy cutting weight, enjoy the miserable practices, or enjoy losing. Those things are the price you pay to be able to compete to win. If you win or lose, isn't the point. It's about believing you can win and working your butt off to do it - that's what makes wrestling what it is.
  19. Sounds like adrenalin chasing to me. In our youth we do crazy things that risk life and limb for no really good reason. I know plenty of guys who perished in a similar pursuit - and their mothers or fathers found it less than worthwhile.
  20. Not sure where this came from exactly, doesn't seem like it fits with the previous conversation. But yes - that's absolutely true. Embracing competition is exactly what we wrestle for. But that does NOT make losing any fun - losing always sucks. A couple L's followed by W and it's still a W - and that W makes the wrestling life keep going. Those that compete and wrestle with nothing but L's - they almost always bail. (The rare ones that stay, I'm not sure how they are wired - certainly differently. There aren't that many of them.)
  21. Had 15 minutes with your wife and it wasn't great - she's a smelly old fish, that one. ... not like your Mom!
  22. Not good conversation - if you aren't interested in the topic, shut up, sit down, and get out of the way. Nobody wants to hear about those who aren't interested.
  23. This would be AWESOME. Just imagine CHA full of fans who don't get fractions. They've got their phones out, calculator apps fired up, trying to figure out the score while screaming at each other and yelling "TWO!!" and "STALLING!!" Quite a picture. I'd pay to see that. Speaking of fractions, anyone seen Bernie P around lately?
  24. Nah, it's not about the suk, it's not about how hard it is, it's not about the sacrifice. Plain and simple, it's about winning. When your hand gets raised, it makes it all OK. And that part is addictive. (I've had this conversation many times with wrestling teammates over the years - competitive people like us, we love to win.)
