    Prediction: whoever ASU sends out at 125 is the starter the rest of the way.

    Ysaguirre looks like he may be too big for 133, and Montalvo looks like a shell of his OSU self. Schunke and Meissner are interesting, but aren’t guys that are expected to score big points, if any at NCAAs. Do you expect to see changes to the staff? I’ve liked the development I’ve scene from McGee, Parco, and to some extent Vasquez since bringing Molinaro on board. I think the bigger issue is bringing in difference makers at those upper middle weights.

    Not sure if him getting the start means much, but Ramos beating Barnett does. If I had to bet on the direction they’d go, I’d say Figueroa at this point.

    ASU lost this evening to Cal Poly. Obviously not a great look, but it made me think about the long term outlook on the program. What in the world do they plan on doing at 133 and 174-197 over the next couple years? Valencia has been a disaster, and as of now they have no in house solutions after this year (Unless you think Chlebove is one). On top of that, outside of Nicco Ruiz (165) they have been silent when it comes to big name recruits. Is this the beginning of the end of ASU being a top 5ish team?

    Is it just me, or is Zeke using this lineup controversy as a way to shield Figueroa? If Figs was to go into the tournament 20-0 with his best win being Kaylor (hypothetically) and Ramos, what type of seed would he get?

    I think they took Negron out of the lineup to avoid another shelling. He’s a gone through the gauntlet as of late. Norfleet must still be coming back from the concussion he got in Vegas.

    Chase Saldate just lost to Stanford’s backup at 157. He was one of my favorite guys from the 2020 class. Chase had a solid true Freshman year and has plateaued/regressed since then. What is going on at Michigan State?

    Good lord, Michigan State is having a rough one.

    Was really hoping Luka Wick would be a cornerstone for the program. He’s been underwhelming so far.

    I’ve thought about the possibility of Courtney medical redshirting. If they could pull that off maybe they could slide Courtney to 33s next year.

    Figueroa is ranked #7 by flo. Do we see Courtney at midlands?

    I agree, but I think it’s close enough for them to justify going with Figueroa. Figueroa would be a threat to AA, and from what it sounds like, benching him may not go over too well. I don’t know if losing 3 years of Figs for one last year of Courtney is a risk Zeke is willing to take.

    If Richie runs the table we may never see Brandon Courtney in a Sun Devil singlet again…

    That’s bold. Prior to last weekend I would have disagreed entirely. I still think Courtney’s a level above and that it’s ultimately his spot to lose, but if Richie goes to Vegas and puts together top 4 finish or so, things get really interesting.

    Have to mention Richie Figs. Yes he’ll ultimately be a backup, but 3 top 20 wins in the first couple weeks of the season is definitely a solid start.
