  1. So winning 1 head to head match is kicking butt? Qualifying 2 of 6 weights versus 5 of 6 is kicking butt?
  2. When are the are the allocations announced?
  3. Remember he was groomed for a year by the master, Tanner Hall!
  4. One red shirt and one Covid year. 6 seems to be the new norm for college wrestlers. At Iowa or Michigan he'd probably be considered an undercalssman :). Looks like he's a two time scholar all american so he may be working the system to get as much education as he can as well.
  5. Reason he wrestled in the two duals is because Parco was hurt. I would imagine since he qualified for the Olympic Trials he's focused on freestyle. Yasguire is hurt and had shoulder surgery. Hopefully someone grows next year and moves to 157. Parco will still be around and you'll have the three of them, plus Ramos (who I've heard Larkin has a hard time beating) and the number 1 hs recruit at 145. I'm assuming Teamer is done after this year, but with all his injuries over the years I would imagine he could petition for another year of eligibility.
  6. Zahid two time champ, would have been 3 if not for poor decisions. I believe he got pinned in a dual his junior year and came back and beat the same guy at NCAAs'
  7. Look like you are correct. The html on the sun devils website is jacked up on my browser and the Missouri match was indented and didn't look like the next match. Glad you mentioned it or I'd have missed it.
  8. I think that would be tough for him. If Vasquez is healthy he's the man. If not, they probably pull Esquirra's RS or see if Ramos can get to 141 before considering Larkin.
  9. Thanks for the update. Devils aren't scheduled to wrestle again until Vegas. Hopefully both are back on the mat by then.
  10. Any news on what the injuries to Teamer and Vasquez were? Hopefully nothing similar to last year.
  11. Larkin will redshirt this year. There's no place for him in the lineup. He's not going to beat Parco or Teamer.
  12. This is the first year I recall having to pay for ESPN Plus to be able to pick and choose which mat I wanted.
  13. I'd think Vasquez would have a much better shot at getting down to 133. Just the eyeball test from the stands but he seems to have a much smaller frame than Yas.
  14. Probably because Kaylor stalled his ass off until OT! I swore I saw the ref ding him with a stall in the second period when he backed out of bounds, but must not have. I though Kaylor was going to lose because of a stall call. Overall officiating at the PAC 12 was horrible, much like football refereeing in the conference. Courtney should get his chance for revenge in round 2.
  15. Can't see an unproven wrestler getting 7 million in NIL earnings. What's the upside for the people donating for NIL appearances etc. Face it folks, this ain't football and/or basketball. Not that many people pay attention to wrestling.
  16. Any idea how Yas matches up against Vasqez? Could it be like last year with Ramos and they wrestle him PAC 12's and redshirt next year? Possibility if Vasquez is out and has the upper hand head to head. Ramos probably cant beat Parco so he sits this year. Not sure what happens to him next year.
  17. Watching Ysaquirea lasts week against Bakersfield, he looks big! I can't see him at 133. DK what's up with Vasquez, I know he had a serious injury last year, hopefully not the same thing keeping him out this week. Curious thing about Emilio is his lackluster performance in open tourneys. I think he lost as many as he won against second tier competiton. Definetly stepped it up this last week. Devils have a logjam at the 141-149/157, coming up. Vasquez,Ysaquirre, Parco, Ramos, Larkin and Teamer. Wish someone would grow, because 165-197 is suspect, though Valencia has looked much better in 2023.
  18. Why? DK if anyone on here actually knows what's going on in the room. I wish I did. Fig's beat Ramos in early December. His last match was a lackluster performance angainst Cal Poly that he damn near gave away. He celebrated like he beat Lee. DK if that has anything to do with him not being in the lineup since, but everyone is acting like he's 2nd best in the nation. I'm a Devil fan, but I don't know. Courtney has drawn the tough opponents in duals where Fig has sat. Lee is gone after this year, so yes, Fig probably has a great chance in the future to win it all. Just wish I could see the two wrestle off to feel comfortable with the decision one way or the other. If they're even, give it to Courtney who's the senior. If Figs is clearly better then he deserves it. Figs has the credentials, but hell Vasquez is a 4 time Cal state champ. Still waiting for him to blossom. Anthony Valencia was the top recruit out of HS but he peaked in HS. Solid college wrestler but not a star. Can't predict college performance based on HS finishes.
  19. Outside of an early season match against Ramos, Fig hasn't really shown any more than Courtney. Not a ton of offense from either. Probably would finish about the same at NCAA's. Might as well stay loyal to your 4 year starter, 3 time AA. I'd like to see the two wrestle head to head. Probably be a 2-1 match going either way.
  20. I eat my words. Congrats to Cal Poly. Job well done.
  21. Great comeback story for the program, but I don't see a chance of beating OSU. I'd say at least a 10 point win for the Beavers. Had Valencia and Schultz wrestled in the ASU dual, they probably lose that one by double digits rather than win by 1.
  22. Had injuries not taken place the Arizona State Lineup would have topped them with 8. 125 - Figueroa 133 - McGee 141 - Vasquez 149 - Parco 157 - Teamer 174 - Valencia 184 - Montalvo 197 - Norfleet
  23. tourney's usually have a pre set criteria for seeding. National Champ, placer, qualifier, conference champ, head to head, etc. I would imagine being national runner up trumps finishing higher in another tournament with no head to head to measure.
